UAB transfer forward Evan Chatman has committed to Baylor following his official visit on Monday. Chatman becomes the fourth addition in this year’s transfer portal cycle, joining Liberty sharpshooter Brett Decker, Penn State floor general Kayden Mingo and Yale wing Isaac Celiscar.
The Harker Heights product averaged 8.8 points and 8.8 rebounds while playing 29 minutes per game this season. He shot 27.5% from deep and 68.6% from the charity stripe as he helped lead the Blazers to a 20-12 record.
Chatman led the team with 281 rebounds (10th in UAB history, 38th in the nation) and was second on the team with 26 blocks.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pounder with a 7-foot wingspan spent two seasons at McLennan Community College, where he averaged 15.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.5 blocks during his second year there. He shot 34.1% from beyond the arc on four attempts per game and 83% from the free-throw line.
He is rated as the No. 281 overall transfer portal prospect according to 247 Sports. Chatman has one year of eligibility remaining, but since he spent several years at a junior college, he may be able to retain two more seasons.
