Hopefully those who tried to ruin the other revivalry thread will stay away from this one. I know, fat chance. It's amazing how often Baylor fans act like trolls.

I'm seeing "revivalry" used in a couple of places. Who came up with that name? It's stupid and embarrassing.

TCU is ashamed of their Christian past, and Baylor is headed down that path. I saw a lariat article a couple weeks back about how no one should say "Merry Christmas" to anyone on campus because it may offend someone. I can post the link to that article if y'all would like. Not sure if that is considered trolling, but the definition of trolling nowadays seems to be "someone said some thing I didn't agree with"

so in my opinion, revivalry is kind of silly. I never heard the gospel preached one time in chapel when I was a student. If you're a Christian institution that is ashamed of the gospel, you're not Christian

No Boogeyman here.. Baylor is not headed the same path as SMU or TCU in deemphasizing religion.

We are now on our 2nd or 3rd administration at Baylor stating our goal is to be like Notre Dame academically religiously and athletically as far as a national brand.

Notre Dame is not exactly a paragon of Christian virtue. They have demonstrated plenty of compromises with woke lies & perversion.

They may not interpret the Bible they way you want them to but that's not the point. They emphasize religion there.

Same with TCU and SMU probably not as much as Baylor though. The people posting here that TCU and SMU are no longer Chiristian say the same thing about Baylor. Just for context.

Maybe they emphasize "religion" but they compromise on the gospel. There are all kinds of religious doctrines & ideas but there is only one way to get to heaven.

"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'"

Correct..but again that's not the point of the thread... interpretation of the gospel is for the other board.

We're talking about how TCU and SMU only emphasize the academic and athletic parts of their institution.

Baylor and Notre Dame are the only major ones trying to be preeminent in all 3 areas is the point.

Just because you don't agree with a religion or how it's practiced doesn't mean it's not a religion.
Stefano DiMera

No..those people saying Baylor aren't Christian are talking about their interpretation of the gospel as Historian.

SMU and TCU have changed their letterhead and brandmark to take Methodist and Christian out of their name. I can't think of an equal equivalent for us... maybe removing the Chapel and Old and New Testament requirements?

I don't think you understand my point: if ND is not standing firm on the gospel, then their emphasis on religion is empty, a fraud. Saying it & really doing it do not always go together.

I understand your point. Just because you don't agree with how someone practices a religion doesn't mean it's not a religion.

If there was a Muslim D-1 institution in the Pac-12 that was a Tier 1 academic institution..and completed at the highest levels of athletics..and they prayed to the West before ever game...you may not agree with their religion..but that school would be doing what Notre Dame and Baylor do.

its a GREAT thing to be somewhat focused on a bit of religion and Faith in college when young people are searching for their path in life.

which is why the rivalry between Baylor and Tcu is so special.

2 great schools who gently remind students to think about their Faith.

and.......they get together every yr in football in a red hot (Re)rivalry even though Frogs have won !! of last 15 but that may change

fantastic game between 2 really good teams Saturday.

Shocking ending !! But entire nation was watching on TV in nationally televised game and whole country was thoroughly fascinated with the game and tremendously entertained w what is being called a legendary ending for the ages !!

Scoring a field goal against a mediocre team at the end of a game when you're given the ball with like two minutes left on the board isn't that epic, and I doubt that game drew many eyeballs, but I could be wrong. Sorry to rain on your parade

Our letter head and brand mark is BU. If we had been named Baptist U instead of Baylor U and had the same brand mark it wouldnt mean we have abandoned religion. The schools still have their actual names. In fact you can still buy gear that has the full names of the schools on the gear. I'm not sure why the ads pop up on my FB but they do. That is how I know. Both have Divinity Schools which are much older than ours which we call a seminary.

TCU doesn't remind anyone of anyone's Faith. They still laugh at Baylor for even having required Christian history classes and Chapel.

Depends on you define "rivalry". Baylor has been playing each other since 1899 and play with great intensity. Both sides really want to win every time they play, in every sport & more than anyone else (or at least as much as any other rival). I think it qualifies. It's very subjective.

I never said they were not a religion & I never tried to impose my standard. I only said that any form of Christianity (whether an individual or an institution) that deviates from Christ's teachings is not very Christian. Even Jesus opposed organized religion, often publicly calling out the leaders for hypocrisy, dishonesty, etc.
