If this proves correct, Tulsa just fired Monty for a guy with a .356 win percentage as a head coach. Kevin Wilson had a couple of decent years at Indiana and has held some really high profile OC jobs, but it's hard to make a case that this is a significant upgrade.

Monty was10 games under .500 at Tulsa. Not sure I get all the *****ing and moaning on here. He wasn't winning there and was given 8 years.

And they just hired a guy who was 21 games under .500 in six years at Indiana. That's the point. At Tulsa, your choices are a high-ceiling coach that will be gone within four years or a high-floor coach who will keep you competitive and potentially stick around awhile. Tulsa likely just fired one of the latter for another.

Tulsa is really dumb for not hiring GJ Kinne. He played there and wanted to coach there.

There had to be something else going on for him not to take that job and take the Texas State job instead.

Either they moved to slow, didn't offer enough, or something along those lines for him to pass them up.

or maybe Tulsa didn't want him since he is too close to the recent coach?

That could make for some drama in the playoffs with a change in OC for Ohio State. Not that I think it matters much for them....

He's not leaving till OSU is done.

Tulsa has been having financial issues for awhile. It's one the smallest schools(if not the smallest) fielding D1 FBS football. Texas St honestly might've been able to pay more for Kinne or offers a better map to success at the moment.

When you include online, Liberty has almost 95,000 students. They got some extra money lying around.

Guess he figures he can start recruiting and plan/practice for OSU. Or he figures he can just pick it all up in January even though he will be behind and probably miss on a ton of transfers.
