Malik apparently knows he can play Receiver in the NFL but wants to continue to try and play QB In college. Tell him he can play both here. We can run all kinds of hybrids with him and Shapen.

Jordan Jefferson was the same way at LSU. Had a ton of WR potential and squandered it playing QB.

He might not be the guaranteed starter here at Baylor, but I just don't know how any quarterback with a competitive spirit could look at Shapen in that bowl game and think, "I've got no chance of beating that guy"

Purdue with out a starter now looks to make a hard push for Hudson Card.

It's not worth much but on Malik Hornsby 247 recruiting profile the scout who scouted him has him projected 2-3 rd pick and his college comparison is none other than RG3 if he can throw the deep ball half as good as RG3 our offense will be killer

Watching those highlights above I got some RG3 vibes....but every highlight was a run. Apparently he really struggles with accuracy. Not sure how much room for growth he has in that area.

That was my takeaway from watching his highlights as well but I think it's worth a shot if he works on it he can certainly take this offense to the next level a true dual threat qb is what I think it takes for this offense to thrive

Threw this dime 55 yards in the air....but looking at his sub 500 completion percentage I guess these throws are the exception.

The arm strength is there though.

Relatively slight of frame quarterback though not to a concerning degree. Enough height and frame that has added good weight between junior and senior seasons. Controlled, accurate passer that plays with command in the intermediate game. Good touch with the ability to feather throws over second level defenders or make red zone pylon throws. Light active feet in the pocket. Highlight film shows eyes and feet married up through progressions. Has some outside the pocket ability and makes some slick plays against his body and off script. While he shows pace on throws in the middle of the field and in the short and intermediate areas of the field, he doesn't show an elite arm on the big throws. Limited yards per attempt relative to the elite national quarterbacks. Despite really good combine athleticism, does not engage as dual-threat runner. We like as an ascending prospect that will be a Power Five starter who possesses some NFL upside. Further validation of physical tools could point to an even higher ceiling.

Florida took someone else, and evidently there was some problem with his grades so his Auburn trip was canceled.

Yea he's definitely an intriguing prospect as well him and Hornsby should be at the top of BUs list both former top 200 prospects that will push shapen to either get better or get his starting spot took there needs to be a real competition come spring.

After the Season that Shapen just experienced, what type of D1 offers would he be likely to receive in the portal?

I agree. I have to believe if you combined an average offensive Staff with an average quarter back, with a below average receiving core, with an average pass blocking O-line, you will end up with a turd of an offense. Sure, QB ain't great but he's not getting much help.
