Recruits read these boards believe it or not….and all of this backseat driving by fantasy football gurus isn't helpful to our efforts to land anyone.

Good lord! How dare we discuss the good and bad of Baylor football on a Baylor football forum
Fantasy football gurus is right. If one is going to be a guru or make a declaration on this board then bass your opinion on at least modicum of fact.Golden Helmet said:

Put golden helmet on ignore. The dude is clearly just here to take shots at people. one of these typical boomers that can't disagree with someone without immediately insulting them.

Lots of good has happened and is in the works….most of which the PlayStation Football experts know nothing about.

I know none of you believe in the impact your comments can have on recruitment…good or bad.
Maybe consider taking a break until we sign a QB on the dotted line?
You guys can do it.

You believe recruits reading that would turn away from BU?
If you had a players mentality….which it seems you don't….you'd view those absolute facts as an opportunity to play early and often.

And only questioning a certain type of player's "mental bandwidth" as well. Hmm.boognish_bear said:Golden Helmet said:

So you are helping to attract recruits to our program by running down our current players and questioning their intelligence?
Clever plan you have come up with there. You are on that next level.

Time will tell, but he is probably an upgrade.
The Gerry disrespect on this site is really strange.
Gerry averaged more yards per attempt last year then Shapen did this year.ImwithBU said:.bear2be2 said:Bohanon completed 62.9 percent of his passes in his one season as a starter for us. Gerry was too gun shy. You have to take chances in an offense like this. The number of explosive plays called are slim. Shapen main problem is he bails the pocket to quick (might be a height issue) and he enacts his inner baseball to often (cost us several key first downs and even a few games by sliding instead of taking the contact)

I think this discussion is a dead horse that can neither be beaten any further or proved one way of another. We have no way to know for certain how Bohanon would have fared without the receivers and RBs we lost. He may have played in the same offense, but not with the same supporting cast at the skill positions. Assuming he would have done better this year is just that, an assumption or hope and certainly an unprovable projection.bear2be2 said:Gerry averaged more yards per attempt last year then Shapen did this year.ImwithBU said:.bear2be2 said:Bohanon completed 62.9 percent of his passes in his one season as a starter for us. If you want to argue that Bohanon had flaws, be my guest. I've never argued otherwise. But basically every argument offered for Shapen over Bohanon last spring fell flat this season. Gerry was objectively better than Blake in the same offense, both as a runner and passer.
I agree with your last paragraph, but that one decision has caused a chain reaction that has put us on the current course we're on, where it's basically Blake Shapen or bust. And, while it's certainly possible he could improve, I'm far less comfortable than our staff seems to be to bet their future and that of the program on Blake Shapen's development.blackie said:I think this discussion is a dead horse that can neither be beaten any further or proved one way of another. Shapen's performance in the championship game last year was outstanding, but that was only one data point. Had the supporting cast been the same for this year at the skill position, we may have been fine, but that can't be proven either. We also know that both are injury prone. We don't know how the season would have gone with Bohanon. We may have still ended up with Shapen.
All we have is what we got, and we cannot change that. The future is all that counts. (An obvious statement.)

These aren't all hindsight arguments either. A few of us were making the same points back in the spring.
It is what it is, obviously. But as a fan, I'm going to call it how I see it. I'm hoping for the best, but preparing for more of what we just saw this fall.
