What is going on in Ft. Worth? Football, basketball, baseball....seems like they are good in all sports now. Do they have more NIL $'s, better coaches, admin, what is it?

Basketball? No
Football and Baseball yes, TCU is Baylor's daddy on the gridiron and diamond nowadays

I'm sure their "less than Christian" vibe (as compared to Baylor)...and being in Ft Worth vs. Waco (dudes don't care about Chip & Joanna)...is more inviting to many male athletic candidates.

True, we have a slight edge in basketball, even though we went 1 and 1 against them last year and it took a big comeback for the win. It will be interesting to see what happens this year. Really hope our young guys step up.

Cyclical...it was nice to see UT and TCUs baseball seasons end in crushing fashion.

Crushing fashion at the college WS in the final 4? …wish we had some crushing action like that.

Yeah, I long for "crushing" losses like that in Omaha. 2005 is a long freaking time ago.

If I recall, a school just south of FW was on an upward trajectory in football but then out of nowhere arose a big ole scandal. Beware of upsetting the blue blood apple cart purple toads. Bad things happen.

They have been beating the blue bloods for a while now, before and after our CAB years. There isn't going to be a scandal.

They have more NIL $.. Baylor is light years behind on that front. And yes, Ft Worth > Waco

I view a loss to tcu as I view a loss to iowa state. It raises an eyebrow, but that's about it.

Is the NIL $ thing just idle speculation or do you have some source that confirms we are "light years behind"?

Grumblings on Twitter back and forth. It needs work.

To be fair, the current state of BU baseball is not indicative of how competitive it usually is. BU baseball is at an historic low right now.

Iowa State isn't a main rival who is going to the CFP and CWS. It should raise eyebrows a supposed peer private school seems to have it together at the moment and keeps beating us in big sports not named men's basketball.

And it was Mitch Thompson's first year. He inherited an absolute mess talent-wise. Be patient and let him build.

I am 100% behind Mitch. He is Baylor through and through, but losing Kolby was a nut punch. Can't build if star players are peacing out off-season after giving interviews how awesome they were going to be for us.

However I believe Mitch is smart enough to know what's what to fix the program. It is going to take time and money and support from fans and donors.

No. Their AD didn't lower the standard. It's not easy to win. And when you do? You can't run those people off.

And they have Kaz. That's better than NIL money. He's worth 3 points at the end of a game. And it infects the athletic department.

A "slight edge?" Bro we're two years off a natty and have talent over them at almost every position. We're crushing TCU in basketball. They've gotten better but still have a long ass ways to go to even sniff our backside.

That's essentially the reverse in baseball. I guess it's some consolation that baseball doesn't contribute, at all, to the economic wellbeing and thus advancement of an athletic department outside their own program. LSU is pretty much the only program nationwide to consistently turn a profit more than pennies year over year consistently, and even then they only clear about the $1 million mark.

Football depends on how you look at it. We have more trophies since they joined the Big 12, they have our number in head to head, we're pretty even otherwise Big 12-wise.

Sports are cyclical. Two years ago we won Big 12/Sugar Bowl and MBB national titles within 12 months of each other. This too shall pass. Embarrassing thread title in any case.

They had their scandal. Drug dealing locker rooms etc. A real one versus one made up in the media? Who knows. The difference, their BOR/leadership weren't hypocrites who made their empire off dildos who caved and threw their staff under the bus just to cover up the bigger "scandal" at large that they were responsible for at large.

Yah but TCU has still gone to 6 CWS since we've been to one

This thread is dumb. If it was ragging on Texas or Aggie it would be a lot more accurate.

So they've been peaking, the historical high of their program. While BU has been declining for the past 10 years, the end of the Smith era, the Rod era was mediocre, and now Mitch inheriting the team at its absolute lowest point. Polar opposites right now, not a fair comparison.

TCU is number 14 in all sports trophy (Capital One Cup), I can't find Baylor even ranked. Last year BU was 30, to give perspective.

Within the past year (in the sports that count):

Football- they were better
MBB- we were better
WBB- we were better (a lot)
Baseball- they were better (a lot)

I don't know about track, softball, volleyball, golf, etc.

I was plenty crushed by Baylor baseball's demise as it was. I would prefer being crushed in post-season. We need to see action to remedy that situation.

There's not too much actual outcome-based evidence to prove anything about the near future at this point, but I'm pretty nervous about the trajectory of Baylor sports overall these days.

This. And they were damn lucky to beat us in football this year. And they didn't win the Big 12 championship. We did a year ago.

This thread is full of half-truths and nonsense.

They were better by 2 seconds in football last year. They were good but very very lucky to make the final 4 (stars aligned).

They are better than us in baseball. No question. But then again most schools are.

Nothing gets fixed until the fan base recognized where we are and puts pressure on AD. Saying 4 years ago we were great, don't help. Now if we rank higher than 14 in the Capital One Cup, you have a point, if not you are wrong.
