It would not shock me at all if it's Oregon or UW. The Big 10 said during media day they have no desire to expand.
If the Big 12 were to add Colorado, Arizona, Oregon and Washington to go with the other four newcomers, it would be a much stronger league in both football and basketball than the one we had before the OUT exodus.

It is truly incredible to think we're even discussing this after the last 13 years.

Bowlsby got the ball rolling with is post-OUT leadership (after years of OUT appeasement, mind you), but Brett Yormark may go down as the greatest conference commissioner in history.

This is almost unbelievable as the Summers of 2010, 2011, and 2021 are still very fresh in my mind.

Don't get me wrong I hate to see it especially for schools like Wash State and OSU because I remember Baylor being in that position but the Big 12 has to do what it has to do.

Yep....that could have very easily been us.....and it would have sucked. We've been able to thread the needle several times since the 90s to manage to stay in a relevant conference.

Maybe Novosad will play a game in Waco after all

Should have never pulled in UCF and Houston.
I hear you, and I have the same thoughts about all the teams we've pulled out of the abyss....TCU, WVU, and then UH, UC, UCF and BYU (kinda). However, at each step, the conference took action to stay relevant and together. If we hadn't taken the 4 last year, we'd likely have been picked apart. I'm pretty sure BU would not have been at the top of other conferences wish list. Things would be rather bleak. So it is what it is....and we're still here and looking rather solid.

Maybe they realize the B10 is not gonna offer them a rose and are ready to accept their next best opportunity.

I'll second this. Had we not expanded with what we could get (the best available at the time) we could be in dire straits. Yormark would have never had a chance to do anything. Probably would have never had a Yormark. More than likely you would have seen teams from the XII ending up in the PAC and BU would not have been one of those.

Conspiracy theory with tongue in cheek......all these schools are just discussing to ratify the fantastic new contract the PAC is getting.

Colorado one of the 5 or is it 3 worst performing P5 programs of the last 25 years? Mmmmk

But only because it sticks a fork in those Baptist hating west coast wokies
The Colorado chancellor/AD were brilliant. They played a pair of deuces into a nice chip stack, simply by being the most open to leaving for the Big 12. If they had waited or been as adamantly anti-Big 12 as the administrators at Utah and Arizona State were, Colorado would very likely have been left out.

But by being the tip of the spear, they guaranteed inclusion despite a thoroughly mediocre athletic program.

I don't know if anything will happen or if it does it will be good or bad for the conference.......but what a feeling to not be on the short end of the stick for a change.

Practically nothing. One thread with 9 replies. Most of which think it is another phony report as has been the case in the past. They don't know why anyone would want to leave and if Colorado does it won't affect the PAC. They never have understood either that the XII contract allows it to add P5 schools without a dilution to the current XII schools. They keep relying on that, using the example that adding UConn or Gonzago would cost the XII school money. They don't get the distinction between P5 and everyone else. One poster says that "Wilner's got an article on "O Live". Sounds legit." That could mean just about anything. The poster did not elaborate.

A deal (and actual platfroms) is better than NO deal.

Don't think Dion would be happy about his games being on the Hallmark Channel.

This exit does not surprise me. Colorado did it's due diligence

I'm sure if UW is suddenly in major talks with the XII and Oregon just learned this, the Oregon domino would try to get in on it as well ASAP. Oregon doesn't want o be in a MWC like version of the PAC without UW.

In an ideal world sure, but adding a bunch of teams created some semblance of stability in numbers.

If the conference could scrap Houston and one of ucf/Cincy and add Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Cu/Az st/Utah of course you would do it.

But the opportunity might not have been there had they not added. Hou was the last add and was a no until big promises from their main donor

UCF is going to be a monster in the Big 12. Those who don't see it are blind.

That's a massive university with a young fan base, and the move to the Big 12 has already made an enormous impact on their recruiting and standing in Florida. They'll end up being the most successful of the four original newcomers.

I am glad that we are added the last four. Besides stabilizing the conference, they wanted to be here. They are hungry. Except for UCF, they know what it is like being in a major conference, and they wanted to be back in one. Also, UCF has done a lot for a school as young as it is. All the fan bases are excited to be in the Big 12.

Many of the schools in the PAC-12 were elitist and didn't think we were good enough for them. I am enjoying watching the PAC-12 implode.

Also, they can keep Utah after all the crap their fan base has said.

Absolutely the correct answer. Without them, we are having very different and very negative discussions about the Big 12 instead of what is happening right now.

As someone else mentioned what media outlets are going to sign a deal with a 9 school conference and who is going to join a 9 school conference. Before someone says well the XII got down to 8 and was able to add, the XII still had a TV contract that wasn't 12 months from expiring.
