It looked like he deleted a similar Tweet. It was too big of news not to share again.

Yeah… I think the one I tried to post must have gotten deleted or something

The PAC would have preferred Houston over Smu I think. But Houston is no longer available

I may be in the minority here, but I think we have the upper hand here. There is no reason to rush which school may be next. We can be choosy. Quit begging other schools from PAC to join. Each of them will come crawling soon enough.
If we want to be a dominant conference, then be like the Big 10 and act like one. Eventually the last 3 major conferences can have our share of PAC and ACC, as long as we have space to do so.

As much as I would like UW and Oregon, from a fan stand point. The overhead of having them added for each current member is huge. But again UW is huge in my view. They are a rung just below blue blood. They have been fairly mediocre for the past 30 years but they have been at close to elite levels most of their history. I would consider them along with USC and perhaps UCLA one of the hearts of the traditional old PAC 10.

It's so weird But true. Most people born after 1970 give or take wouldn't even know unless they really need out on CF history

The team I wish that had never left was Nebraska. We owed them some beat downs but those *******s left before our program turned around.

My first thought was he was just messing around because he jokes a lot… But he did seem like he was being serious. Keep us posted.

I actually think UW is the biggest brand currently in the Pac.

the buyouts for those MW schools is so unattractive. Don't want a single G5 school at all. Would rather have OSU over any of them if that's the case.
Not sure if you're serious about Oregon St., but with a young alum as head coach, they are positioned to be a major player for a long time. Zero baggage, zero drama . . . . . but zero eyeballs other than us diehard college football junkies.
Oregon St is a culture fit. Wazzu is a culture fit.

Oregon is more of a culture fit than UW!

I think it funny that those who talk about culture so much are actually on this board and arent Pac school administrations. It is all just pure projection here. This is business not culture war.

Fit, is everything. From there you can work. If the fit is not there, it is doomed.

In business, especially. You want to destroy a business venture bring in a non-fit to your in-house and customer culture.

Some Pac 12 schools are very snobby and have an elitist mindset. It's no shock they played a part to where their conference is now. Colorado took off the rose colored glasses and saw realty.

The schools in that category are Cal, Stanford, UTAH, and ASU. The fact they haven't bothered to expand and have publicly ridiculed the big12 should tell you they're willing to die on that hill.

100%

While the OUT exit was shocking, we ended up with a bunch of like-minded schools that wanted to pull together for the conference (at long last). The Pac is in the mess it is in b/c it has been acting like the B12 did with UT and OU. Paralyzed b/c some refused to expand based on snobbery and likely wanting to keep themselves nimble. I don't want schools that don't fit the new B12 mindset. I also don't want anyone who doesn't want to be here and/or who views it as a pit stop on the way to something else.

I have seen fans of some schools ridicule the XII can any of you provide any quotes from administrators of these schools doing so?

Stanford/Cal have been on record on not wanting religious schools in their conference. This includes BYU and Baylor.

Utah has been the biggest Pac 12 Supporter during realignment and their AD has been arrogant towards the big 12. Possibly due to BYU and/or wanting to be more aligned academically to the Pac 12.

Mostly I don't like what our "culture" has become. We are going to culture ourselves to death trying to kill off the other guy's culture because we think ours is the only "valid" culture. Culture war has just become another campaign tactic by politicians that have only their interests and their next election at heart.

I can guarantee that when the XII was falling apart and had the PAC for some unknown reason accepted Baylor, and a couple of others or just Baylor, and put us in a division with Stanford, Oregon, CAL, etc. we would have jumped at the chance. Culture would have been the last thing considered, by the school and more so by the fans.

If the fan/alumni base of a school gives you a strong sense of how they feel en masse, that's likely pretty accurate and going to drive the institution at the end of the day.

I mean, if 75% of Berkely grads think we are a bunch of knuckle-dragging, Bible and gun-toting redneck idiots with whom they don't want to associate, their admin isn't taking them this way. Nor do we want them.
