Interesting that Colorado AD Rick George repeatedly cites playing and recruiting in Orlando and Houston as appealing factors for returning to the Big 12.

Gotta credit Bob Bowlsby and the Big 12 board for reacting with the right moves in the summer of 2021.

As much as I would like UW and Oregon, from a fan stand point. The overhead of having them added for each current member is huge. But again UW is huge in my view. They are a rung just below blue blood. They have been fairly mediocre for the past 30 years but they have been at close to elite levels most of their history. I would consider them along with USC and perhaps UCLA one of the hearts of the traditional old PAC 10.

Big 12 will add b/w 1 & 3 schools to join Colorado in 2024, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. League will 1st seek others from Pac-12 to join. If none do so, Big 12 would add 1 Group of 5 (UConn, Memphis, SDSU or UNLV) to reach even number of teams in 2024https://t.co/j31J8IUMQN

My Pac 12 source says Oregon is leaving, and possibly/probably to the Big 12. Nothing confirmed yet, but stay tuned. Would be massive for the Big 12, as Oregon is the biggest brand remaining in the Pac 12, and would be a crippling blow to that conference.

I will be having Pete Thamel and Brett McMurphy's tweets on alert.boognish_bear said:

the buyouts for those MW schools is so unattractive. Don't want a single G5 school at all. Would rather have OSU over any of them if that's the case.

Fit, is everything. From there you can work. If the fit is not there, it is doomed.PartyBear said:
This is business not culture war.
Some Pac 12 schools are very snobby and have an elitist mindset. It's no shock they played a part to where their conference is now. Colorado took off the rose colored glasses and saw realty.PartyBear said:
I think it funny that those who talk about culture so much are actually on this board and arent Pac school administrations. It is all just pure projection here. This is business not culture war.

The schools in that category are Cal, Stanford, UTAH, and ASU. The fact they haven't bothered to expand and have publicly ridiculed the big12 should tell you they're willing to die on that hill.

Stanford/Cal have been on record on not wanting religious schools in their conference. This includes BYU and Baylor.PartyBear said:

Mostly I don't like what our "culture" has become. We are going to culture ourselves to death trying to kill off the other guy's culture because we think ours is the only "valid" culture. Culture war has just become another campaign tactic by politicians that have only their interests and their next election at heart.PartyBear said:

If the fan/alumni base of a school gives you a strong sense of how they feel en masse, that's likely pretty accurate and going to drive the institution at the end of the day.PartyBear said:

This is a really good decision on @CUBuffs part to join @Big12Conference...Frankly, they showed a great deal of patience while the Pac 12 deal never materialized...Below is my conversation with Brett Yormark regarding expansion from @JoelKlattShow pic.twitter.com/I5Xnm7juL0
