I felt like I should clarify this tweet from Yourmark yesterday. I've seen a lot of misinformation and meaning of it.

The 'Theyre back' is a takeoff of Michael Jordan's 2 word press release when he left baseball to return to the Bulls..He issued a two word press release saying 'Im back'.

Just a Side Bar question… I just watched a Joel Klatt podcast. He's a CO grad and athlete, connected to FOX, etc. Would've he had any input with CO Pres and AD? He's definitely close and familiar with both.

Not by much. Deion was a biggest person for the push. He's well connected to Texas and Florida more than CA.

Deion I perfectly understand. My thought was, being associated with FOX, did Klatt have any "inside/pertinent" info that was not privy to CO execs that helped with their move?

I think the only thing that maybe he could have been privy to is our contract with FOX doesn't guarantee full shares for new P5 teams like our contact with ESPN does.

FOX agreed to sign off on that and allowing full shares so maybe he had some inside info but don't think he had any influence in negotiations.

Oregon would obviously be a huge get for our conference...but would it be worth it if they just joined temporarily while they're waiting for their B1G invite?

I think so. It's kind of like signing a key free agent in the offseason. That contract will expire at some point, but you know you'll get good production while they're under contract with you.

I also don't think it's a foregone conclusion that that Big Ten invite ever comes. In fact, if I was pressed, I'd say it's more likely than not that it doesn't. Oregon and Washington would be huge additions for the Big 12. But they're not the $55 million a year additions the Big Ten needs them to be to be additive. Their biggest appeal to the Big Ten is in reducing travel for USCLA, and I think that's likely a bigger concern for those two schools than the conference as a whole.

That is a good point. At the end of the day, UO and UW can tip the B12 into being THE #3 Conference and have to be included, besides 1 slot, in a Championship.

In the B10, they are an outlier in the Pacific NW. I equate it to Nebraska. Nebraska used to be special, now they are at the same level as Minn and Wisconsin. Oregon and Wash can be special in the B12 and keep their identities. Move to the B10 and be cookie cutter.

Fit, is everything. From there you can work. If the fit is not there, it is doomed.

In business, especially. You want to destroy a business venture bring in a non-fit to your in-house and customer culture.

There are plenty of recent examples in the corporate world to illustrate this point: Bud Light, Target, Disney, etc.

They probably will die on that hill, as a P5 conference.

Is there any chance that the Big Ten as a conference is regretting adding the two schools from the West Coast? I'm just wondering if after the excitement wore off people started to realize what a big burden it would be for teams & fans to travel 2,000-3,000 miles for those games.

Those two schools have big enough brands and are alike enough in other ways with the existing Big Ten schools that I don't see buyer's remorse being that big of an issue. The travel will be a burden, but I don't think it will be a huge one.

I think this is right. You've been on the same wavelength throughout this process. I increasingly think this is a real possibility now. A few months ago would be a dream but with how things are shaping up I think this is something that very well could happen. This conference with some combo of AZ, Oregon (even if for a few yrs), and UW would be a great league.

The Big 10 doesn't feel threatened by the Big 12 so I wouldn't anticipate any reflexive moves here. If they deem the value add they could move. But they are sitting fine which gives the Big 12 some pull.

This conference easily has the greatest potential to be the most entertaining league for those sports fans unaffiliated with any specific school. The great matchups are endless in both major sports.

OK. Thanks

I should add that I agree the Big 10 won't be looking west anymore. They don't have a reason.

I think it funny that those who talk about culture so much are actually on this board and arent Pac school administrations. It is all just pure projection here. This is business not culture war.
Some Pac 12 schools are very snobby and have an elitist mindset. It's no shock they played a part to where their conference is now.
Not sure what that has to do with TV deals ruining college football

Good question. It's also possible that everyone is scrambling frantically behind the scenes. It's also possible that some are negotiating with the Big 12 who is quietly trying to decide who to take. We may have answers early next week.

The two go hand in hand..

They failed to expand. Failed to focus on football. Failed to invest in their own products.. (this goes from fan support and beyond)

Their schools aligned more towards the Ivy League and not the SEC. These are the results.
