The Arizona Board of Regents, which oversees both Arizona & Arizona State, are meeting today.

While most do not expect a vote or decision at that meeting, multiple sources tell @YahooSports to expect the topic of the TV deal to be discussed.
George Kliavkoff has asked the conference more another meeting and more time after presenting the initial deal today.

Remains to be seen what will happen next, but there will be discussions at tonight's Arizona Board of Regents meeting.
No official decision is expected tonight
Pac-12 board meeting was "positive", per a source. The quote I got included the phrase "excited and aligned."

Why hold another meeting?
Some members of the Pac-12 CEO Group need to get final approval.
More soon.
I’m not making any predictions but if the numbers presented were that good wouldn’t you assume someone would leak them?

This could be George Kliavkoff’s last stand in keeping the conference together. To add to my previous tweet, there is absolutely no confidence in a deal and nobody knows where the linear aspect is coming from.
— Jason Scheer (@jasonscheer) July 31, 2023
If George Kliavkoff pulled this off since Thursday, it would be a small miracle.Sources indicate that there is very little linear aspect to the deal that will be presented tomorrow. Nobody knows where it is coming from, but there is also speculation Kliavkoff could present escalators of sorts if certain ratings numbers hit.
— Jason Scheer (@jasonscheer) July 31, 2023News: Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff will finally present a TV rights deal to league members within the next 48 hours, a source tells @TheAthletic.

The Board and ADs are scheduled to meet tomorrow morning.
First reported by @johncanzanobft.
It’s been confirmed by @PeteThamel. Apple was the deal presented today and there’s escalators based on subscriptions.

I don’t trust any school President to make the right decision but…

“The deal as it stands now is not good enough for schools with options.”
From a good source.
Yes, that is my understanding. Similar to MLS on Apple+ and UFC PPVs on ESPN+
— Brandon Marcello (@bmarcello) August 1, 2023
No decisions on the deal or any schools pondering other options are expected immediately. Campus leaders are digesting the possibilities of a stream-centric future and the variance in potential income. The money piece is tricky because of the variables of subscriptions.

Havent heard much about the Apple network. Is it big enough to attract schools like Oregon and Washington to stay in the PAC?gobears20 said:It’s been confirmed by @PeteThamel. Apple was the deal presented today and there’s escalators based on subscriptions.

Biggest blowback on Pac-12’s possible primary Apple media rights deal w/incentive bonuses is it’s “very challenging” for schools to accurately budget annual revenue, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Another Pac-12 meeting scheduled to discuss further

You need 500K subscribers at $20/month for 4 months. That gets you an extra $4.4M per team (if 9 teams). You need $11M per team just to match the #Big12 .
— Jerry Massey (@JerryMassey) August 1, 2023
That's a lofty subscriber count at $20 a month (not sure what the price will be).
The #Pac12 falls short in any scenario.
1. No ESPN would be problematic for both game visibility and brand promotion
— Jon Wilner (@wilnerhotline) August 1, 2023
2. Part of the calculation for presidents is how this deal sets the conf up for the *next* contract cycle. Does aligning with Apple now help for the 2030s? https://t.co/NRZNXTQZ7L

how and why does the pac community let canzano have a job still? He is arguably the main reason tht the pac is in this situation. most of the deadlines missed by them have been set by him. He is a complete dumpster fire- how do they not notice that?
Larry Scott sold the schools on the Pac-12 Network based on how much revenue they could hit based on low/medium/high subscriber projections.
— Stewart Mandel (@slmandel) August 1, 2023
It turned out to be below low.
Hard to imagine the schools making another risky bet on a newish platform.
I don't think they have an agreement and the number is so low that Conference is playing for delaying announcing until it is too late for schools to announce. If we get into the season, no one is announcing and buys them another year.BearlyBeloved said:
Numbers are all over the place regarding how many total subscribers Apple+TV has. It looks like maybe 25-million.
More importantly, the people with the add-on subscription for a season pass to Major League Baseball is right at 1-million, BUT many of them do not pay extra for it, getting it through some other incentive package.
So I wonder how many people would pay to watch Pac-? football? And how much? And would that ever reach a high-enough level to create "escalator" revenue??
Sources tell us the Pac-9 was not able to agree on a new TV deal in this morning’s meeting.
— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) August 1, 2023
We’re told one major sticking point was that the television deal would not actually be on television.
