I have to say we are very happy to be a member of the B12 and look forward to many hard fought games against your program. I think most if not all of the BYU community is respectful of Baylor, WACO et al. Sadly, one of the most atrocious, disrespectful, entitled, and indignant fanbases in the country is also joining the Conference. Wishing you much success against the University of Utah. I hope Baylor wins 49-0 as they have already proclaimed themselves national champions in our local media and believe they are entitled to the CFP playoff by virtue of losing two Rose Bowls in a row. Good luck and may they receive the welcome they deserve in the Bear Den.

Lucky for you, Utah fans have distinguished themselves as unusually stupid during the realignment process, so I assume I speak for most (all?) Baylor fans when I say we will have little issue getting hyped about crushing them next week.

I already cant stand their fans just from what i've seen on twitter. They're not going to be a happy bunch sitting in the noon time sun at 100+ degrees. The visitors bench should be around 140 on the field, lol.

I hope we beat the day lights out of any team from Utah, in our conference or not. Really beautiful state though!

First, Utah fans, and I am one, absolutely respect Baylor. Academically, and from an athletic perspective.

Baylor is a formidable opponents for any college football program. And dominate in basketball (another day for hoops).

Utah will come to Baylor ready for a hard fought football game, in blistering heat, oppressive humidity and in front of a raucous crowd.

We do NOT expect to just come in and win. Although our team will give it every effort. We know Baylor is a very good football team, well coached, great athletes, tough minded, etc.

Anything any BYU fan says about Utah, you absolutely need to take with a grain of salt. Or a truck load of salt.

I'll apologize for the handful of Utah fans who dissed the B12 during realignment the last yr or so. Most of those rants were responses to, and intended for BYU fans, not the conference (and none by me. I'm not on social media at all). We are excited to be in the B12. A lot of tradition and a lot of good teams. We feel lucky to have landed in such a good spot. Honestly.

I can't wait for y'all to meet the real Utah fans. I think we will like each other.

I can't wait for you guys to meet the real BYU fans too. I'll just leave it at that. Give it a couple yrs. You'll know exactly what I am talking about. The way they talk about Utah above, is just a taste.

Who would have thunk that a rival fan base would say derogatory things about the other. Every single school, Baylor included, has insufferable fans and great ones. I just wanna see some good games and maybe a little bit of trash talk between the teams whoever it might be, nothing crazy just some gamesmanship. Anyways excited to play Utah!

Yeah, let's win the FIRST game please. I'm not sure the last few games we actually played on the field should give us enough confidence to take any opponent for granted.

Beat Texas St - then yak it up with Utah fans (or BYU fans who start threads about Utah on our board).

I am right there with you on that. Banter is fun.

And Utah certainly has their "vocal minority" just like any fan base. Fan bases are all a little crazy.

But, you'd be hard pressed to see any Utah fan come on your board to tell you to dislike another team. I came to see if anyone was talking about our upcoming game in 1.5 weeks.

But that's "BYU fan" to a "T" And I would bet big $$ that the guy/gal above ran back to their board and bragged up what he said about Utah here. And received a hero's welcome.

They seem to have an unhealthy obsession with Utah and want every B12 team to hate Utah like they do. No doubt they will make every effort to propagate that sentiment to every B12 team. And they are welcome to.

Do with it what you will. You don't have to like Utah. Like you, we just want to win football games. And realize we won't win every game.

While we are NOT looking past Florida (game makes me VERY nervous) We are certainly looking forward to playing in Waco the next Sat.

Good luck this weekend. BTW, Grimes is a hell of a coach, IMO. And Aranda is going to be a really good one long term.

We did, in 2021, when BYU played in Waco. A lot of Cougar fans were at that game; the attendance was over 48,000 making it one of the Top 20 all-time crowds in BU football history.

Believe us when we say it is extremely bitter. The most remote place on earth I have ever dissed BYU? West Africa. Northern Ghana near the Burkina Faso border when on a nature walk, guess who shows up? That's right, some young BYU types on a field trip. I remarked their quarterback was timed with a calendar, not a stopwatch.

BYU - Utah used to be friendly until Urban Meyer. He brought in the whole Ohio St-Mich dynamic 20 years ago and it has only gotten worse. Urban brought the "Team Down Sourh/TDS" which continued today as KWhitt refuses to say the letters "BYU", even though KWhitt played for BYU.

I was just in Salt Lake for my sons' high school football game from out of Utah and saw people screaming hatred at someone from their own school for wearing a BYU shirt. Just strange. BYU fans worry about getting the car keyed if they display their allegiance, but Utah fans never worry about that.

It is very strange compared to decades ago. There were very few Utah football fans back then, though, and even their own alums were BYU football fans during the Lavell era.

I'd rather dislike BYU to be honest, but we need Utah to become irrelevant in 5 years. Same with Houston and TCU.

Oh come on, CougFrog! I recall my first Utah-BYU game in 1988 and it was anything but friendly. Subsequent games saw fans tossing snowballs at opposing players (early 1990s) and our Utah fans were culpable because the rivalry was so bitter. It is social media which has fueled the misbehavior in the past two decades.
Side note: BYU alum Michael Young, descendant of Brigham Young, during his past presidency at Texas A&M, considered removing a statue of Lawrence Sullivan Ross, a Texas hero with ties to Baylor and A&M, because he was a Confederate general. Yet Brigham Young vocally favored enslavement of Africans and we hear nothing but <crickets> about that. Sorry to bring this to a Baylor board but the thread OP was a BYU fan.

And the University of Utah was founded by Brigham Young.... nothing like a Utah fan trying to reference the 19th century to score points in a 21st fan forum discussion...

The 88 game was @ Utah. Utah's attendance back then, outside of the BYU game, was minimal. A guy from my high school was on the team. He went specifically so he could play against BYU.

One of my very good friends today played on the Ute football team in the early 90s. He would be the first to say that it changed a lot with Urban, that it went from a friendly rivalry to something much worse.

Utah football fans were very few in number in the 80s and 90s. Utah basketball fans were much more numerous. It was very common to have Ute alums say, "I am a Utah basketball fan and a BYU football fan." It started changing in the late 90s, once Utah started winning, but everything changed with Urban.

Trash talk and banter is great as long as it's kept respectable. There's an obvious line that doesn't need to be crossed

They do travel well to away games. Many of the local Church members attend, what is a local game for them. And the DFW area has a ton of Church members.

I give them a lot of credit regarding how they show up for away game in most places.

Good luck this weekend to Baylor. While I am nervous about our game in just over a week. I am also excited. Not only is Baylor a very good program but we are soon to be conference mates.

I am focused on the Utah v. Florida game tonight. I'll be there cheering on our 3rd string QB tonight. Florida sounds a little dinged up too.

No excuses if Utah loses. But I'd love to see a win. Go Utes tonight and Go Bears on Saturday.

This is an example of what we encounter with much of the Utah fanbase. I know that it doesn't represent the majority, but a large percentage who use the rivalry as an avenue to express their hatred. The sacrament is something we hold as very sacred, but they openly mock it and other things.

Hey, I didn't expect to see you here either. Good luck this weekend. Should be an easy win for the Cats.

I came here to see what, if anything, they are saying about our game next week. Just get a sense of the fanbase, perhaps glean something about their team, etc.

Then I saw some BYU fan comment on Utah (they can't help themselves) and thought I'd better defend Utah just a little. Or at least provide some perspective.

Enough about them....

Sweet! Glad you were cheering for Utah. I will be doing the same for AZ until we play;-).

Yeah, Florida was not as billed. That's for sure. Baylor, on the other hand, is going to be a tough game for Utah to win. On the road, well coached, good players, motivated, etc. And Utah struggled to run the ball v. Florida. Baylor should be better defensively. We need to figure that out.

Don't get me wrong. I want to win the game. But it's going to be tough, imo.

Really interested in the Colorado v. TCU game. That game may get 8mm viewers (I'm not really predicting that. Just a LOT will watch that game).

Florida is a typical SEC "powerhouse" meaning they are mediocre and very unlikely to contend for their division much less a conference title any given year. The true powers are Bama, Georgia, & maybe LSU. It's always fun when a Tennessee, Auburn, or Aggie team beats one of the bigwigs but that's because it is rare. The rare exception when someone else does is merely the exception that proves the rule. That's my two cents worth anyway.

I think the Big 12 is going to be a lot more fun with the new members, the parity, and some great rivalries. Hopefully that strengthens the conference through all the realignment chaos to benefit everyone.

Welcome to the conference!

Was glad Utah won but wish it would have been by more like 55-7 or something.
Always good to beat an SEC team.

Hope the Bears can beat Utah but there are just a lot of unknowns about the Bears this year.

I'm drinking the green and gold hopium but still not catching a buzz about the Bears just yet. Maybe I'll catch one during the game tomorrow.

Do you want us to put them in time out for you? I don't think Baylor fans are all that sympathetic about how a Utah fan has hurt BYU's feelings or vice versa. I could care less. Baylor isn't going to get their pitch forks out and line the streets when Utah comes to town.
