As noted in a different thread, Shapen was graded ant ann elite level according to PFF, so at least there is that.

Blake Shapen had a 93 grade last night per PFF, which is utterly elite; higher than any 2022 CJ Stroud game.

& he did that w/ a cumulative offensive pass protection grade of 42, almost impossibly bad. Baylor's worst pass pro grade in 2022 was 56, & most games were in 70s and 80s

3 WR were positives...1st Hal Presley was a big positive, he looked very good (2 fabulous catches). Ketron Jackson also showed hints of being the guy he was talked up to be, and Jonah Burton was mostly an unknown quantity that showed very well.
The kicker Isaiah Hankins was also a big positive, made a 53 yarder and went (3 for 4) only miss was 57 yarder.. no longer worried about having someone to kick over 40 yds - Hankins is the guy.
QB Blake Shapen was a positive as well. He showed very well; those that thought BU would suck this year because he was the QB can now see that he is far from the problem. BU can win many games if he's under center; hope his injury doesn't keep him out long, this team needs him on the field.

We got basketball? I guess

I like the guy a lot but he isn't built for a pounding in this sport. OU knocks more QB's out of game. If I was his dad I wouldn't watch that game if he plays. Too painful.

Shapen was excellent. As one of his most vocal critics last year, I was really proud of him and the effort he gave last night.

He seemed like the only guy on our roster who went out last night with something to prove. I just hope he didn't suffer a season-ending injury in the process.

The game was on ESPN+ streaming and not TV

Qb actually looked solid. And not bc some content guy said it. Most of those strictly spreadsheet guys just don't have a good feel for the game and are notoriously wrong (fb and bball).

But he looked decent. Presence was solid considering the worst o-line performance in years and accuracy was good. Ironically was one of the only guys showing any fire externally. Every other unit outside of wr (decent) looked terrible

Hankins looked quite comfortable from 50+ which is rare to have at this level.

Looks like some WRs are ready to step up. Didn't notice any egregious drops. Some catches made in tight coverage.

Attendance was a positive. So was the tailgating.

Up until late 4th, our only D stops were fumble recoveries. We also have a kicker.

The sound system is still nauseously loud.

My saturdays will be free.

If you want to use a rationalization . . . GJ Kinne had all offseason to prepare for his only P5 opponent. Maybe this was an anomaly on both teams' schedule.
