#Baylor HC Dave Aranda said he thought QB Sawyer Robertson was "trying to be too perfect" and "not lose the game" against Long Island on Saturday.

This is what I fear about Aranda. He gets stuck on a player, even if the player is not performing. I get the feeling he is more happy about a poor player making incremental improvements over a win.boognish_bear said:#Baylor HC Dave Aranda said No. 3 #Texas has an imposing and mature offensive line. #Baylor HC Dave Aranda said RB Dominic Richardson has a high ankle sprain and that he wasn't participating much this past week in practice.

If you're saying he might not be cleared to play for a while, I don't necessarily disagree. I say it will be Oct 21st versus Cinn, to take advantage of the buy to get him more time to recover.

"We made some really big steps Saturday against a top 5 NEC FCS team (true, they're 5th in conference at 0-3). We are feeling really good about the chance to show our gains when Texas comes to Waco.
Don't panic but does anyone in the press have football experience and a year of eligibility?"
Appreciate that.
I don't think it is anything personally. It is that the program is perceived to be in trouble and there is no sense of urgency or even recognition. Being nice doesn't make up the difference, does that make sense?bear2be2 said:Why does it bother y'all that Dave Aranda is a good, kind man?Killing Floor said:

There are legitimate, job-related concerns about his performance and potential as a Power 5 head football coach. Let's talk about those and leave the personal stuff out.
We're not losing games because Dave Aranda is friendly to the media.
But it doesn't make a difference either. I'd rather focus on the things that do. There are enough of those to talk about without picking apart the personality of a guy who isn't trying ruin our fall Saturdays.FLBear5630 said:I don't think it is anything personally. Dave Aranda wasn't my first choice when he was hired, and I've been critical at times of his preparedness -- or his team's lack thereof. But he's a good man who is trying his best to make the adjustments needed to turn this season around. Whether he does or does not, it's possible to appreciate the man he is while still having and expressing concerns about his ability as a head coach and motivator.
I don't blame those who have lost confidence in Dave Aranda's ability to lead our program where we want it to be. I just think you can feel that way and express it without getting petty and personal. And I would prefer that we, as a fanbase, did.
I think all of those are fair, relevant criticisms. Getting pissy because he says "I appreciate the question" in press conferences is not IMO.FLBear5630 said:Well, since he has been herebear2be2 said:But it doesn't make a difference either. BU seems to be in the bottom 1/4 or so for Fewest Penalties
the QB room is empty and several have left
Other position groups have lost players that did contribute and show promise in games
His temperament and coaching style is relevant. Something he is doing is not working in player development and discipline on the field. Is there accountability?
I am with you there. I also don't expect him to get emotional in a interview. What I would like to see is some sign of toughness and resiliency. I know he is not the cold CEO like Saban and don't expect it. But, some indication that the team will run through a wall for him would be nice. Right now, they just look blah....bear2be2 said:I think all of those are fair, relevant criticisms. haha yes. grimes play-calling and shapen's inability to make decisions to protect himself and stay on the field more than a couple quarters in a row is what it is. so sawyer and rj...next man up while shapen recovers. and then we rinse repeat when shapen comes back and can start.FLBear5630 said:wgeralds said:this is 100% accurate. he's gotta come out there and say this but shapen is the guy when he's healthy enough to be the guy.bear2be2 said:Shapen will be back in his starting role the second he's cleared to play.
