If the figure for Aranda is accurate, does this mean when he got the extension it was only an extension of the number of contract years and not an annual raise - because I thought he was originally hired at a minimum of something around that number?

Looks like a very budget friendly contract...if things turn around...or even they don't.

I highly doubt that a USA today writer is privy to the salaries of Baylor coaches, and unless I missed it in the article, I doubt Baylor would offer up that info. I would be shocked if that is what we are paying Aranda. I suspect it's more in the 4-4.5 million range

They can pull salary information from Baylor's form 990, but that info could be from a year or two before due to fiscal year end and having 11.5 months to file.

The information above is correct for Baylor's year ended 5-31-22 per the most recent 990. Mack was paid about $2.5mm and Linda ~$1.5mm during that same period.

Total revenue from all sources for that same period was $1.4 billion and total salaries were $456mm. Athletics revenue was reported was $59.5mm.

I'm surprised total revenue isn't higher. I seem to remember Baylor receiving some huge gifts from wealthy alumni in the past couple years, some for 8 or 9 figures. Or is that not included in "revenue from all sources"?

I've been summoned. I was not wanting them fired based on the salary of Aranda. It had to do more with the attitude of them about game day experience. Also we were all mad after 4 bad weeks and I was also mad that they are not wanting to honor the 2013 team

We definitely should honor the 2013 team. They deserve it and it would be excellent fan engagement. To be honest, it should even include a special invitation to CAB as an honored guest. But we know that will never happen.

There might still be enough time to arrange out for homecoming or a November game.

Mack is paid almost as much as the HC in football? I thought Aranda started out at about 3 mil a year. That is what we are paying him now? Also if Corsicana Bear is accurate we are paying Mack almost what Texas is paying Del Conte.

Maybe. It all depends on the language of the gift.

Revenue under GAAP accounting rules is recorded when the contribution is an unconditional promise to give.

"I'll give you $10,000,000 for the building". Recognize today.

"I'll give you $10,000,000 for the building with $2,000,000 now, $3M upon completion and the remainder after two years following."
$2M recognized now. The rest recognized when the conditions are met. (Bldg completion; 2 yrs later)

Mack carries an extra title of Vice President..so I'm sure that entails a few more meetings and extra responsibilities.

DelConte just signed a 7 year extension for $19.55 million to 2030.
