At one point in recent years, I had been to 40 straight Baylor home games.

I haven't even turned on the Baylor game in weeks. At this point, you have lost the fanbase. You are in danger of losing them for years. Aranda has to be gone.

For all the crap Phil Bennett got, he at least understood how to have a D that was an adequate complement to Briles point a minute offenses. No, he didn't coach shutdown defenses but he got the job done well enough to for us to still get a LOT of W's.

We gave up 70 to West Virginia and oftentimes had to score 50 to 60 to win games. Adequate compliment????

It's spelled "complement". Means to complete as opposed to saying something nice about another person. By my count we won 57 games over the 6 seasons he was our DC which included the season we needlessly self destructed which is an average of 9 1/2 wins per season. No, I'm not giving him total credit by any stretch - just saying he was good enough given the offenses he complemented - other than the last one (note the spelling).

By the way, as long as we're picking on individual games two of the teams you played on lost to Alabama by a combined score of 75-2.

Complement is not in my limited vocabulary. Particularly when you try to sell me that Bennett completed anything on defense or completed our offense. We won a lot of games in spite of him.

My problem all along was think (dream) what we could have accomplished with a competent DC. Art would have or could have been one of the greatest ever had he just dropped that left nad and gotten a COMPETENT defensive coordinator. Spent more time in practice for the D and Special Teams.

Yes, We got intimidated and dawg-drilled in 1979 Birmingham and 1981 Cotton Bowl. Baylor D 2. Baylor O ZERO. It pretty much says it all that our D scored the only points.

In Birmingham we had 8 turnovers. You can't beat Paul Quinn College with 8 turnovers. Throw in a blocked punt too. By the way it was only 14-0 at the half.

In Dallas we only put up 7 turnovers. It was 13-0 at the half of that game. So, we gave up 48 of those 75 points in the second half. Team depth was a problem for sure. 15 turnovers.

He isn't going anywhere.

Arguably, the best years of Baylor football had players and coaches that the Southern Baptist Convention would consider of questionable character. Have we now swung to low energy Sunday school teachers (like me)? There is a balance. There are good people who want to inflict pain on their opponent and say an occasional curse word in the process. We need those people as coaches and players. IMO.

They still haven't recovered since the 90's and resorted to hiring Deion. That is the path we are on
