If Teaff says it, then I am good with it.

Coach Teaff said the right things and if you listen, he was clear it has to be better next year. He also said the team needs to be stronger. As respectful as he is of not crossing lines even that little bit speaks volumes.

I love ya Grant, but you are likely not in touch with the realities of Big Boy college football in 2023.

Company man till the end...

What else would you expect Teaff to say? He should have fired him? Coaching fraternity...

In the interview, Grant essentially said that Dave is a good man, But, he has to have a good year next year. Meaning, all this other stuff is great, but, a coach has to win. That's Grant laying down everlasting college football truth.

He'll say what BU wants him to say. He is an institution. He is not going to come out against a Coach, he is a former head of the ACFA.

Good guy, Dave's a good guy. But his "statement" supporting the AD is not worth a thing. He is a Company man through and through

This, along with Mack's (ghostwriter) apologetic/ Q&A, just feel like BU marketing trying to turn the tsunami of public opinion that sees the emperor not only has no clothes, but also a small pee pee for which he is constantly trying to overcompensate.

I think any among us can separate his heroic past from this comment. My grandma always said I'd make a great president.

Baylor PR is pulling out all the stops.

They also got Scott Drew to open his press conference prior to the Nicholls game talking about Aranda and patience.

Nice try, Mack. Try all the PR you want. Bad leadership is bad leadership.

If next year is a must win season after this year's 3-9 record, how do you recruit quality in the missing pieces of the Coaching staff? Seems most smart coaches could see the potential turnover immediately ahead via the portal, lost recruits, and possibly the exit of Aranda in 12 months anyway.

One difference between you, Mr. Drew, and Aranda, is that you worked your tail off from the very beginning on the recruiting trail.

Well, that and embraced and leveraged NIL. And became a master of the game.
I'd take any of those over appreciating questions any day.

And Drew also ticked off other coaches.
In big boy sports, it's ok to not be everyone's friend.

You will get a coach with no options and is happy to keep the health insurance going. A short term gig.

The biggest difference is Drew inherited a dumpster fire off the biggest scandal in the history of college basketball (maybe all of college sports) while Aranda inherited an 11-win team with a loaded roster and an elite culture.

One of those situations warrants more patience than the other. I'm going to have more patience with/for the guy building from the foundation up than the one dismantling a healthy competitive/organizational structure.

I wonder how many of the "3xperts" posting on this board have been as successful in their careers as they are experts in the multifaceted game of college athletics. My opinion is that most have opinions but absolutely no idea about the whole situation.

Thank you for your marvelous insight. Now please go back to the Premium board, where all the paid members have the opportunity to hear loads of BS. Loads of BS that just led us to a 3-9 record.

Spot on, but thankfully NIL gonna fix all of CDAs shortcomings.

Also next year will Aranda be the only headcoach in P5 that has:
1) An AD who apparently tells him what type of offense he needs to run and helps him see issues on offfense. So a co-headcoach
And 2) A co-headcoach (with the next OC hire).

Will that make Aranda a co-co-headcoach? Should be an interesting arrangement.

Yup, you hit it on the nose. As if it takes playing the game or coaching in college to know that a team sucks... It is really easy to tell if a team sucks. You can do it in 3 seconds, it is called reading the Vegas line... They will tell you in a heartbeat how good a team is and non of them ever touched a football...

This is a business at the end of the day, football has nothing to do with academics. Any business will be calling in favors from the old warhorses at this point. All about making money. And ticket sales will drop, so you have to try something. Sure, use the legacy of Grant Teaff to sell a few seats. Why not.

Insulting that they don't think we can see through them using the q&a article, Teaff's comments, and Scott Drew's comments as PR bull***** Meanwhile Mack hasn't answered any questions from the press. He knows he can't defend the decision.

Maybe Grant. I can call him that since I know him, is thinking I had a losing record 3 it the 4 years after the 74 Cotten bowl and went 3-8 in 78 and yet turned it around and went to Peach bowl in 79 and Cotten bowl in 80, plus the Cody Carlson years of 84-86

Good thing chat rooms and social media wasn't around in 78, they would have wanted him gone

Any other old timers remember the "BUnited" PR campaign that was trotted out in 2002 when there was a lot of dissension in the fan base over the dismal ineptitude of the football program? It was designed to try to shame those who were expressing their displeasure as "not true loyal fans". Would have been about that the time that the above quote was made.

I seem to vaguely recall that they used Grant back then too, or am I misremembering things?
