I don't blame Mack for feeling that way. To sign with a program, meet with the players, put your name on the dotted line and then bounce after two months is bush league. Don't care where you went or what opportunity you got, honestly.

I hate it, it sucks, I wouldn't hire him in the future if he was available. But, Baylor vs Bama... no contest. Nick Saban would probably flame out here; therefore, any sane coach has to make that choice for long term career reasonable opportunities. MI St - baylor - Bama... no brainer.

Honestly its kind of shi tty on Alabama's part to reach out to him knowing he just signed with us.

I would pull a Tommy Tubberville move like he did while out to dinner with recruits in Lubbock if I got a call from Bama.

Counter point, Mack Rhodes is the guy who let McGuire be hired mid-season before we had even played Texas Tech. He didn't have to allow that interview in the middle of the season nor should he. He set the president that our assistants can and will leave at any time. This is how he's decided to manage his athletic department work place. In my eyes Mack is crying about egg on his face that he put there.

Uh.....McGuire was here for a tad longer than 2 months. If you want to crap on the AD, find another subject. This one ain't it.

Doesn't matter how long someone is here. If we're open season on when people can interview and leave like Mack has been, then this is what you get.

Yeah, that's a ridiculous comparison. Kap is leaving for the same job elsewhere. No decent program would ever keep one of its assistants from taking a head coaching job -- especially after passing on that same coach for its own opening.

I thought that we as a fan base were past the point of being butt hurt about coaches and players treating this like a business, because it is a business. Many of you probably have fairly high positions in your companies with people that depend on you and coworkers that would incur a lot of stress if you left, but if we're being honest, everybody here would leave for the right opportunity. We are one of the have nots in the football world, and Bama has top 5 resources.

Question: Would Mack leave to be the athletic director at Bama? I think there's probably a 90% chance that he would. I mean, I realize that the powers that be apparently only expect mediocrity in the win/loss column making Mack's job a bit easier than it would be at Bama, but it's an interesting question

Bama didn't get to be where they are as a top dog in football by adhering to this vague person over player rulebook that Mack follows that apparently says that you can't poach someone else's position coach after two months. No one on here was crying for SMU when we took their star recruiter in Khenon Hall.

And he's certainly allowed to interview for that in the same time frame as every one else. Instead our AD granted an interview mid-season, something he didn't have to do, and McGuire became the only mid-season head coaching hire I've ever heard of.

Publicly trashing the guy in the press is not a good look for Mack and will not be taken well in coaching circles, potential future coaches will remember this next time we make a hire while Mack is the AD.

Let's not forget Mack is out for himself as well. He ran after 1 season from from Missouri because it wasn't going well and there was already chatter about wanting rid of him.

Almost every head coaching hire is mid season, you have no idea what you are talking about.

These ADs don't have that power. The request for permission to interview is basically polite notice of an interview. The only thing an AD can do to try stop a hiring is outbidding the suitor if he really wants to.

Mack can be pissed about it and Kapilovic is free to go coach at Bama. We are free to poach a coach from somewhere else to replace him.

Did anyone blame Manny Diaz when he took the Temple HC job and left a couple weeks later for Miami? No. Sucked for Temple but Diaz isn't turning down his hometown team for a huge payday.

Is anyone actually going to tell me if they were the COO at a small company making $200k and a bigger company called offering $750k to do the same job with slightly better job security you'd turn it down?

Plus I think new OL coach actually fits better schematically.

Suggestion:

Chain all our coaches to the goal posts at McLane (except, of course, for anyone we want to leave).

Problem solved.

I'm amazed at why these obvious solutions aren't followed.

Bouncing around from school to school is an assistant coaches life. They have no long term contract or stability like a HC, so they try to make the best decision for themselves and their family. It's not personal, it's business.

I'm not sure why we offered the guy a job to begin with.

His OL's at MSU were terrible.

I think Tubberville has made more money by cheating on insider trading in Congress than he ever did coaching.

Yes of course they did. He was dragged through the streets in the northeast and on a number of national platforms as well at that time.

Everyone understands why Kapilovic did what he did. Why Baylor fans need to be cool with it is what I don't understand. Normalizing this sort of behavior is a problem, no matter who does it and how many times it happens.

I agree 100%. I would have very little problem with his personality if he was good at building winning programs.
