Briles' comments were brief and didn't make much sense.

Dave Aranda needs one more Big12 chip to get on Briles level. Some consistent success wouldn't hurt either, hopefully the new investments pay off for him this year

Dave Aranda needs 4 million volts pumped through him. Maybe he'd at least make some amount of movement of motivation.

HUH? Nothing would make me happier than Dave figure this coaching thing out but Dave Aranda has had one good year. One. With another guys players.

Briles built us into a national contender from rock bottom with the Big 12's worst facilities and was shortly dominating year after year with many more coming before the BOR crapped the bed.

The BOR very much disappointed God with what they did to this man.

Sadly all will be judged and they will have been found to bear false witness it all appears.

Freakin Sanhedrin at baylor but they woke now so all good until they screw up Mens baskerball. It's the last Domino to fall. Hope it don't

Afraid BigGame is right, JP.

With 1 more Big 12 Championship, Aranda could quite possibly have Baylor in the playoffs (national contender) and/or another NY6 game - at which point Aranda will have exceeded Briles by objective metrics. Did Aranda start with as many disadvantages as Briles? No. Does Aranda have a Heisman? No. But he does have a NY6 win, a Big 12 Championship Game win, and a 12 win season. All of which Briles never had. I think we're all doubtful that will happen though.

Also - Siaki Ika, Gabe Gall, Grant Miller, and Drew Estrada were all Aranda's guys. I can't imagine anyone would reasonably think we have the 2021 season without those guys.

I actually owe former Regent Jay Allison an apology and it probably deserves its own thread. He was the only former BU football player to fight for Art. It was the other three, - Murff, Reeter, and Jeffrey that threw him under the bus and played key roles in destroying a man's career and legacy. Not quite the Christian example we would expect from Baylor.

Or Pitre.

Maybe. Hope that happens. Doubt it will. Doubt we even make a bowl game next year. We will need to see consistency as well.

Side note Big 12 championship moving forward won't be the same without UT and OU regardless.

God? How can God be concerned about anything so minor if God cannot be concerned with all the suffering going on in this world. Man-made religion really amazes me. How can one fool one's self with all the evidence we have that shows no personal God. Different cultures different belief systems. Our own Christianity grew out of many cultural ideas that came before it started. Judaism has 70 percent of its beliefs from its Persian captors.

Getting into the playoffs in a 12-team format is a bit different from that of a 4-team format. And I hope it happens.

You won't be able to convince anyone on here to even question their beliefs. I see Baylor fans (and sports fans across the country) praying for a victory during a football game. It is so idiotic. Let's say you believe in a god - with people starving, dying and suffering across the world, why would a god waste their time impacting the outcome of a football game. A god clearly has their hands too full trying to help people suffering across the world to care about a football game.

A platform for God can be had in a win or a loss.

One of the greatest uses of this sports platform was Baylor volleyball after a loss in the ncaa tourney praising God and praying for the team that just beat them.

Agree with Pacific. Repenting is His way. Art built exciting. Dave has built dull even when winning a long time ago. Dave may have seen the light. It looks like he may be around awhile. First 6 games should reveal plenty. Hoping for the best. Missing Art and what he brought.

What might've been - or what likely would've been. The guy won back to back B12 championships for the most part with developed recruits that the likes of UT and OU didn't want and he would've made it 3 in a row along with our first CFP appearance had Seth Russell and eventually every other QB on the roster not gone down in 2015. I can only imagine what he would've done with the 4 and 5 star types he was just starting to get in any kind of numbers when we needlessly blew it all up. I still can't believe the level of stupid it took to do what was done. I suppose we should be grateful our BOR hasn't found a way to blow Drew up……..yet.

Hadn't you heard, half of Briles players are in jail? Sorry, just 1 and Art had already kicked him off the team. Hundreds must be under indictment? Sorry, that number is zero, although several were tossed out of court. What about those group sexual assaults by football players? Go check with ESPN, Texas Monthly, Austin American Statesman and FW Star Telegram as they seem to know it all and should have names of every player involved.

I really felt we could line up and beat anyone in the country in 13/14/15. Anyone.

However, there were 4 things that made it go from a guaranteed win to a 'probable' win.

-porous **** stain of a defense. No ability to stop a team on 3rd down. No pass rush.
-bad special teams
-lack of discipline. We were a heavily penalized team.

Specific to bowl games:
-4-5 week layoff for a bowl game did NOT benefit us. Lack of play for that long really throws off the timing and effectiveness for an offense. I don't think that kind of time off hurts a good defense, or at least not to the degree that it hurts an offense.

We had a legit shot. And Briles was just beginning to recruit really well. He'd done everything to that point having to crawl out of the recruiting pit that the last 20 years had put us in. Imagine if he started running his system with 4* & 5* guys who came legit ready to play at a high level.

He also was not going anywhere for a while. Wouldn't leave Texas. Tech job had come and gone. UT job had come and gone. He had trash talked A&M too much to take that job.

We were poised for a long run. That plus what was beginning to happen with recruiting .. had a very legit shot.

That's the ultimate proof that all of the weeping, wailing, nashing of teeth, and outrage from the media and our own BOR was totally overblown and not worthy of nuking the program and destroying a great coach's future career. One guy (Tevin Elliott) in prison and as you noted Briles had kicked him off the team well before his trial and conviction. I believe SamU (a guy that never played a down of football for Briles) ultimately got convicted of something, and either served minimal or no jail time - and that's it. Briles didn't build what had become a national powerhouse program and win back to back B12 titles on the backs of teams filled with thugs and rapists as the media repeatedly reported and editorialized about or you would've had convictions galore and a lot of former players in prison today. There were more appropriately measured corrective actions that could've been taken far short of what was done, but blowing up everything was a ridiculous over-reaction.
