Doesn't pull a lot of weight in Arizona anyway. Can't speak for Manhattan, KS, but it's probably not much better.

But it's purple vs. red & blue, not black.

TCU/SMU played a friday night game a couple of years ago. Similar purple/red & blue matchup

What do you know about AZ HS football? Because, having played grown up in it and played it, it's a pretty big deal out there.

I live in Arizona, Mitchypoo. It's fun living in your punkin head. Obviously you're not from Texas, otherwise you'd know the difference.

Grew up/currently live in AZ. Football is def the biggest high school sport by a long shot, but nowhere near the Texan obsession. You won't see comparable stadiums here lol

The biggest difference is the disparity in small towns in Arizona and Texas. In Texas, small towns run the gamut in terms of the socioeconomic range. You have poor folks and well-to-do folks living in the same small 20k population town. In Arizona, if you live in one of the smaller towns, you're pretty much just poor.

You don't see the whole town turn out for football games because there isn't nearly as much civic pride in those small towns. But, even on a national level, Arizona HS football is a pretty big deal. Look at all the top-flight D1 QBs who have come out of there in the last 15 years for evidence.

The depth of talent isn't there like it is in CA, FL, OH, and TX, but the top end talent can compete with anyone. Saying it "doesn't pull much weight" is being ignorant of the realites of the sport in the state.

red + blue = purple.

the game should be a ratings bonanza for the b12. two top 20 teams. first match of b12 teams in a game that's not a b12 conference game. lol to that.
