Yeah what a weird thing to call us out on.
The NIL has chased me back to the NFL. Screw college football.
I mean do what you need to do, but people calling out Baylor specifically for staying competitive in this market as opposed to just shutting up shop and becoming like Akron is wild.

Most of us think that Baylor was way late to the NIL landscape, contrary to what the administration was saying. And now that they are finally doing what it takes to increase the likelihood of winning, I'm not sure that abandoning the program is the greatest idea. To each his own though.
Aranda was a terrible hire by Rhoades and will continue to be. Both Rhoades and Aranda must go if Baylor is going to reach anywhere near the national heights CAB teams did.

I think Choades needs to go to, but Choades hired Rhule - who quickly got us out of a dumpster fire that most schools would have wallowed in for a decade. Aranda was living off Rhules guys but the hired looked pretty good after that Sugar Bowl win. I'm guessing Choades is likely getting quite a bit of slack for those successes.

The Buckeyes linebacking crew will do just fine without him.

Our need for Alford is far greater.

AND he will get more playing time and more attention (translating into better chance of playing in the pros).

Mike Singletary could tell him how Baylor launched his linebacking career!

Gave up on college football when head coaches routinely made 2-5 times that of the university president.

The NFL died when the players making millions a year complained about 'oppression'.

Now prefer watching my grandsons play soccer, softball and flag football.

Possibly, hard to tell in the NIL cutthroat world these days.

Whatley says respect his decision.

But TCU obviously didn't respect his previous decision:

Remind Alford that Baylor can launch a great pro career for a linebacker.

To the naysayers: None of us will ever know how many players we lost under the old system because other schools paid them and we offered nothing but 'three hot's and a cot.'

It remains to be seen how fast we can recover from the last two years. They better hope these paid recruits are worth paying for and coaches who can actually coach.

I'd think TEAM coheasiveness is now a thing of the past. These are kids, impressionable kids.

It seems to be happening already. The important question: is this irreversible?
I don't think NIL or paying players is reversible and honestly - I think players deserve a cut of the revenue. However, there is no oversight, governing body or structure to NIL or player compensation.

I do take issue with that lack of oversight and I have a disdain for the conference realignment that has occurred due to the influx of TV revenue.

The sport was built on fan interest and regional rivalries. The more they chip away at that, the more fans will become apathetic to the sport as a whole.

There is a different group of fans that don't have those experiences, such as big 10 and sec fans. They haven't seen multiple teams come and go over the past 15 years, so they are oblivious to the experience that occurs in other conferences. As far as those fans go - everything is normal and going great, with NIL perhaps being a bit weird, but not a nail in the foot, so to speak.

We also had a coach with a history of developing QB's. We haven't developed a QB since he left.

What is this "Respect my decision" crap?

Killing Floor
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Exactly. What soul? Anyone who drove through the garage beneath DKR and saw 20 new identical cars before NIL had to be either naive or dumb to think that's a coincidence. Colleges have found a way for a century.
What people are so mad about is the transfer of power.
Oh no, what will become of our university when football players can come and go as freely as undergrads?
Reverend
How long do you want to ignore this user?
Are football players a different subset than "undergrads"?
Anyone has always been able to transfer anywhere else they want to whenever they want to.

Now though, they are a valuable commodity that can trade their skill set for money. But don't say they couldn't go somewhere else like any other "undergrad" could. Nonsense.

There used to be consequences for transferring such as forfeiture of a year of eligibility in many cases.
Sure, players weren't held hostage literally. But they kinda were relating to the their playing ambitions.
