Dave Aranda’s career as a D1 college coach began at Texas Tech as a graduate assistant in the year 2000. Aranda spent three seasons as a GA under offensive mastermind Mike Leach, the first three years of Leach’s tenure in Lubbock.

In his final season as a graduate assistant in 2002, Texas Tech won nine games for the first time since 1995 while averaging 41.3 points per game offensively.

Think I've seen that type of offense before.

Pity Aranda can't duplicate either Briles or Leach. Baldy is an ignoramus, pure and simple.

But he appreciates your question, Skeezix!, so keep prattling on until your drool wins your wet t-shirt contest.

You have to move on. Its a new season...

Unfortunately Dave ARanda is the head coach still. We will still lose close games due to coaching mistakes, and as the season progresses it will become apparent he does not inspire or instill confidence in his players.

We are not all, at our best, as the boss. A great general manager might make for a poor owner. That is what we are asking of Aranda.

I'll move on when tangible results appear as multiple wins. But you Pollyanna all you want.

Will depend on whether BU has the personnel. Can they switch from the Grimes fiasco, to a concept passing game?

Every time I read something like this, moving to a CAB style offense, I smile a little bit knowing that it really did originate with us freeloaders.

But, we'll see. CDA hasn't proven himself to be able to pull this off. Hopefully Spav is the man with the plan and can surprise us all. Would love to see a competent offense from this crew.

CAB style of offense versus a CAB level offense is night and day. I just hope I don't have to endure 4th and 8 jet sweeps with our backs against our own goal line. Or those dreadful QB roll outs with a 3 yd pass to a covered running back when we needed 7. Even if we go 3 and out at least keep some tempo and take your shots down field.

Aranda was a terrible head coach hire by Rhoades and will continue to be. Even the latest NIL spending spree will not cover that up.

Both Rhoades and Aranda must go if Baylor is going to reach anywhere near the national heights CAB teams did.

You know who needs to go more than those two? You and your sorry self. I'm being very serious. You need to buzz off. You're just that toxic on here dude.

It wasn't a style or a system. It was Briles. But it's funny that we are saying that now.

True, but that was a decade ago. Can we find the next Briles? Just because the new OC was hired by Aranda doesn't make him a bust. Let's see what the guy has. At one time Briles was an wildcard.

I scoff at the notion they are going to run a "briles style system".

Don't even bother calling it a "style".

There was one guy who could do it and that was the man himself..

That is ridiculous, there are many Coaches that run high scoring offenses. Those that run high scoring offenses AND sieve Defenses are even more plentiful. Briles was not that special, he knew O, but he was just as deficient at D. Look into the D2 and FBS there are Briles-types waiting for a shot at the Bigs. There will always be, there is nothing new in Football.

I am confident we can find one, can we keep them? More importantly, will they be allowed to do what they need to be that proficient? In recruiting, play calling, player development, etc...

To say that Briles was "not that special" is just ridiculous. The man deserves a statute next to Teaff.

I partially agree. It wasn't just the system with Briles. People forget that he was an extremely well respected high school coach with many connections, and his staff was given a lot of early leads on potential talent when they were at BU

I agree with all of that. But, it is August. Hope springs eternal, at least until September...

Briles was an offensive genius. One display of this genius was when we lost our 3rd string qb in the first half of the UT game and had to use a wide receiver to finish the game. At half time they made dramatic adjustments and we almost came back and won. Truly remarkable.

Finding an up and coming guy that is good does not diminish Briles. Briles is done, his records are in the books. We can find a good brilliant OC without it being a knock on Briles.

We are ALL hoping! Unfortunately, as Ken Fisher says, "Hope is not a strategy."

Aranda has to know that he has to produce big time this year if he wants to stay at Baylor.
