But no coaching changes,
Imagine how empty McLane would be in the fall of '25 if that happens.

Excited to see Auburn coming to town Labor Day weekend coming off 3-9 and 4-8? When you add in how the '22 season ended (5 or 6 consecutive losses), that's a run that few fanbases can take.
In theory it might be empty - but people will still buy tickets for the possible "what ifs"...

Regardless of win/loss record, I just want to see a smart team with talent that has a chance to win most any game with enough breaks. I want to see a team that doesn't shoot itself in the foot repeatedly and minimize its opportunities with bad play, poor preparation or poor decisions.

You could have just said "internal improvements"

I'm going to say 6-6 because I want to go into the season with some hope, but honestly I have no idea.

I could envision anywhere from three wins in the worst case to seven or eight in the best case scenario.

Nothing scary about the schedule, no big bad teams to face anymore. Plenty of offensive playmakers but can the OL do its job. Defense has the ability/players to be good enough, just a matter of actually doing it. I think nationally they are being overlooked & undervalued, put me down for 7 wins, top half of conference, and something like a Liberty bowl berth.

Texas was good last year but over the past 10 years, they have been mediocre. Utah more than replaces them, I think.

Utah isn't some juggernaut, but they are good enough to run us out of the stadium if we don't bring our A game, energy, step the coaching up big time, etc. I think folks on here got a false sense of security last year when we played them when they had like their third string quarterback. Rising isn't CJ Stroud, but he's a good quarterback - like a Max Duggan

Utah isn't some juggernaut...
Exactly, all that needs to be said. If Baylor, as a program, is at a point where they're sh:tting their pants with the thought of playing the Utah F'n Utes, then they should probably drop down a level and start up a rivalry with UMHB.

Utah and BYU will always be tough on the road, and probably Colorado.

AF is a pivotal game. Tough team to prepare for, they will be ready. Lose that one and it will be looking really tough going into the teeth of conference play.

From USA Today, for what it is worth. They're assuming we beat AF. Baylor is also far and away the worst legacy B12 team

INTENSE HEAT last year along with the points made. Leaving 4000+ elevation to sea level in an oven is tough. But, when needed, enough to squash BU in the end. It will be a Utes mauling of the cubbies in the mountains.

We should have a good read on this team by end of week 3. Loss to AF and run out of the stadium at Utah means a long season. Win against AF and signs of life at Utah, we could maybe get to .500 or a little better,

Season is effectively baked at end of week 5. If we aren't 4-1 or 3-2 at worst, it's going to be a losing season. Just depends on how bad.

You need to prepare yourself for disappointment I guess. We would not have beaten Kansas last year. Mercifully, they were not on the schedule. I like some of the off-season changes we've made, but the common denominator of our issues is Dave. As long as he is here, I fear that we're going to get outcoached and have a lack of intensity on gameday. Even with these predictions, you can tell that there's a general lack of confidence with Dave. People are just predicting that we're going to beat up on other crappy teams to get to 6-6, and that it will be just enough so that Dave will keep his job by the skin of his teeth. But where is the path forward there? That still makes 2025 a "prove it or you're fired" type year

I could see 4-8. Wins against Tarlton, Air Force, BYU and Houston.

Hoping some of the hype is real and we could go 9-3. Losses to Utah, Tech, and West Virginia. Interestingly, that would be a 7-2 record in conference and we could get to Arlington depending on how everything else falls.

That being said, I'm going over the 5.5 vegas projection and predicting a final record of 7-6. The defense will need to be significantly better.
Big12Bear
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I was going to give a general prediction of 5-7, but after looking at the schedule I see maybe 4 wins. We could have an upset or two and then give it right back against someone like UH on the road.

If not for extreme fortune against Cincy and UCF, this was a one win team a year ago and those guys are not on the schedule this year.
BearFan33

6-6 just enough for Dave to keep his job. I hope we are better than that. Resources have sure been poured into the program and NIL.

Hope we at least manage 2-1 in non-con. If it's a 1-2 start I think the bet is sunk.
