While Dr. Smoak does not need our help in devising questions for his Dava Aranda talk show, it might be good therapy for all of us (or me!) to jot down OUR questions for Aranda as a way to deal with the disappointment with a number of coaching decisions yesterday. I only have three:
1. Why not give Sawyer a shot in the 2nd half? Finn generated no offense with the 2 biggest plays being a Pendergrass run and a 1-yd pass to Cameron that he broke for a TD. How can you look at an offense that only had 48yds at halftime and not make a change to at least see if the other guy can provide a spark?
2. What on earth possessed you to go for 2-points when we got down by 11? How can the reward of cutting the deficit to 9 points outweigh the risk of being down by 11? A 10 point deficit does set up a tie scenario, but going to OT against a freshman QB sounds a lot better than betting the BU offense could generate 2 TD's.
3. What on earth possessed you to try and go for it deep in our own territory down by 11 with time still on the clock for a comeback versus punting it deep and taking your chances against a freshman QB that had generated virtually no offense? Fortunately our OL penalty forced us to punt.
