Will be interesting to see how any of Rice, Texas St, UNT or UTSA (or multiple) going into PAC might change the state of Texas recruiting landscape or NIL arms race with more conference support

Why do you think any of those will go to the 6-PAC?

In terms of tiers of money, you have the S2. Then you have us and ACC rounding out the P4. Then you have a big gap to whatever the 6-PAC and AAC end up being.

The PAC is not in a position to make up ground unless they essentially merge with the ACC leftovers and create a PACC.

When will a conference with a "regional" name wise up and pick a new national one?

  • The Atlantic-to-Pacific Conference (APC)
  • The Bi-Coastal Conference (BCC)
  • The Coast-to-Coast Conference ("CCC!" "CCC!" "CCC!")
  • The Everywhere-All-At-Once Conference (EAAOC)

I know why they are using the P12 name - but this new conference will be so far removed from what the P10 was that they should be ashamed to continue to use the name.

Actually the PAC traces its roots back to the Pacific Coast Conference which was founded about the time the SWC and the others were founded. It only had 4 charter members. Cal, UW, Oregon and what is now called Oregon State. So it has been a really small conference before. Within a few years it expanded to add Stanford, USC, what is now called WSU and oddly enough Idaho to grow to 8.

That's true today. Until the landscape changes (it will) you just want an invite to the tournament. Once there, anything can happen.
