I dont think Kendall is a great coach. Lebby is the better of the Art sons and Kendall is just getting by on his ddadys name.

Lebby is Art Briles's son in law, married to his daughter.

Correct. That became obvious in the Cotton Bowl.

I'm not defending Kendall Briles in general, but that Cotton Bowl was the fault of our "D" that couldn't hold a 20 point lead for one quarter and our field goal special team that in the 4th quarter clanked one makeable attempt off an upright and allowed another one to be blocked. Our "O" did more than enough to deserve a win that day.

There was plenty of blame to go around for choking the Cotton Bowl lead in 2015. Andrew Billings had a penalty that erased a pick six, missed or blocked field goals, etc. It's not just one person, group, or issue.

They'll prolly "get well" for the 60 minutes they play us later this season - followed by an immediate return to suckage.

Lebby sucks too. He and Kendal are the two biggest frauds in college football.

When you can't run the ball and don't even try, it becomes a lot easier to blow a 20-point lead.

Three-and-outs through the air last seconds. That was the only way Michigan State had enough time for a comeback.

It was evident that MSU's defensive game plan was focused that day on taking away the run and therefore daring us to throw it as much as we did. What times we tried to run it the results were about like watching our current team try to run the ball. Unlike this year's team, we didn't just keep trying to force something that wasn't there. True, in the end we needed one more score in the fourth quarter and didn't get it, but on balance I still maintain the offense did enough in that game to deserve a win.

That was fine in building the three-score lead. In fact, it was the right thing to do. But once you have three-score lead in the fourth quarter, the time you kill in running the ball is worth more than the yards you gain. Three negative runs and a punt leave Michigan State without enough time to come back. Replace those runs with incompletions, and you give Michigan State extra opportunities at the end.

This. Kendall Briles' lack of balanced playcalling caused our defense to get gassed. So he's the real cause of our collapse in that game. By the end, the D had nothing left. All on Kendall Briles.

Is this a SE365 or KF post?

"Honeymoon was over when the last of [former coach's] players rolled off the roster. He can't recruit. He is lost during the game. He has no energy on the sideline. I think the guy really has no clue on what to do."

It's like the destinies of our two schools are intertwined. Sadly.

Kendall hated running the football, but I remember a lot of head scratchingly stupid penalties in that game that was characteristic of the Briles years

That was the trade off with having art briles as a coach. Great offenses for the most part (starting in 2010), but lousy special teams, tons of penalties and no defense.

Defense was very good or great for most of 2013 & 2014 hence back to back conference titles.

So does this mean we will actually beat TCU?

Who are y'all taking in that one if it was played today? Hate to say it, but I'd go with the Frogs, even if we are a "better" team.
