I believe this is the first one of this cycle.

Mike led JMU to a 2016 FCS natty and complied a 37-6 record at JMU.

He started at ECU in 2019 and has combined 27-38 record there. He had one 8 win and one 7 win season at ECU.

Im curious who the first p5 coach will be. Dave Aranda still sits at #1 on the hot seat rankings but last nights dominant win over Tech certainly helps his case. The end up of the schedule is favorable for him as well.

Probably Napier at Florida, they're 4-3 with Georgia, Texas, LSU, and Ole Miss their next 4 games before finishing with FSU. They're staring at 5-7 if they can beat FSU.

Bajakian was the OC for Butch Jones at CMU, Cincy, and Tennessee. Was at Tennessee for a couple years. No one was overly impressed. Granted it was dark days before Butch's false hope which Bajakian was gone before the false hope and Butch's near career ending phrases like "champions of life"

Rice is a tough job. It's like Vanderbilt but no SEC recruiting pitch. How about an education and playing football on ESPN?

Apparently, the new school president is more athletics friendly. Now whether that just means a return to prominence in baseball, or also improving football remains to be seen. My son is a Rice grad and he said students pretty much hate the football program. Kinda resentment that the players are not "real" Rice students.

Pete Thamel mentioned a lot of athletic departments moving slower due to expected revenue sharing next year. Possible big ding to the budget and don't want to make any regretful moves. An AD is going to get fired if he fires a coach and a year later has to tell the new coach he's got a reduced NIL budget and can't afford the hot shot coordinator hire and needs a bargain bin OL coach

I don't think Mack Brown will be fired. He has had some good years (9 and 8 wins the last two years) and is a legend there. He might retire at the end of the year with the push being behind the scenes for him to do so but I don't see the school firing him. Especially with the stuff in a post above about revenue sharing coming and reduced budgets.

Plus their last 4 are all winnable meaning he could finish 8-4.

Mack is 73 now. I could see where with all the new portal rules and NIL where he might decide to just hang it up like Saban did.

Wasn't sure how much he had left in the tank when he went there... But he exceeded my expectations. In 2022 they started the year 9-1 and his recruiting was really on the rise.

He had a funny quote about certain coaches negative recruiting against him saying "he'll be retired before you step foot on campus", he responded saying something along the lines of "all those coaches are gone but I'm still here"

Thamel reported Mack Brown is not expected back next season but when it's announced and how it plays out is unknown. He has no one on staff to do a baton handoff with.

I actually think he deserves it. They probably beat UGA if Lagway doesn't get hurt or they still have Mertz healthy. Texas loss was bad but it's a young team with a brutal schedule and now no QB until Lagway gets healthy.

There were plenty of such rumors about Brown his last few years at Texas. I remember it being talked about during some of their games vs Baylor even as early as 2010, I think.
