UNC may be ahead of the curve here. College football is turning into semi-pro. Why not get one of the greatest to come in for a few years that can tell recruits what it takes to be a pro.

This is going to be interesting to observe for me at least. Back as recently as a month ago when some here were arguing that hiring anyone new would automatically result in a better program if we would just make the change, Odum was one mentioned as a favorite of them. This despite Odum having a .500 record as a P4 HC. Needless to say I was underwhelmed with this idea. It will be interesting to see how much Purdue improves. Now it could be a lot like at other places in this era. Odum has never been a P4 HC in the paying players era. But maybe Purdue won't improve a whole lot. As I said it will be interesting to watch if this occurs.

Barry Odom was 1 game away from the playoff so not sure why he'd take the Purdue job unless they said they were going fund NIL because they did not under Ryan Walters. Maybe Purdue is expected to have an Indiana type schedule next year? Not knocking Cignetti but I don't think they're a playoff team with a tougher schedule.

Sounds like there was a contract negotiation stalemate over the last several weeks. Then southern Miss offered him the job, he apparently talked with them (possibly as a negotiating tactic) and turned them down. Then Marshall said "thanks, no thanks" basically due to him talking to another school and didn't renew him.

So now he is taking the southern miss job.

Apparently their DC has been their coach in waiting since last July.

And Brian Harsin...the ex UT asst and former Auburn HC..now Cal OC.

I just read a story about Luke Fickell now being in hot water with Badger fans regarding the new OC hire.

Evidently UNC completely lowballed Sumrall (Tulane HC). They offered him somewhere in the range of what he's currently making at Tulane. One report stating it was actually less than what he's currently making.

My UNC, App State, NC State, Clemson, and South Carolina coworkers are all united behind the idea that UNC AD Bubba Cunningham will completely eff up this hire.

Maybe that AD is putting all is eggs in the Belicheck basket. But yeah I think they lost the Tulane HC's interest. I thought that it was because they are piddling around with Belichik too long though. That guy is starting to remind me of Stanton during his 96 and 98 coaching search.

Oh, you mean when we told Gene Stallings (winner of a NC at Bama, with a daughter in Waco) that he had to go thru the process, we're interviewing other candidates, etc. From what I heard, he pretty much told us to go F ourselves.
