Well, according to the rumor we were offering Will Howard 4mill also. We probably have enough to keep Sawyer plus he has Cameron so next year he should put up great numbers.boognish_bear said:
Hopefully the bigger schools don't come knocking in the off-season like what Kansas State experienced

Sawyer Robertson has volunteered at my RG3 Football Academy the last 2 years dedicating his time, energy and effort to the Baylor community with the next generation of future stars.

It’s awesome to see him have success at Baylor after so many gave up on him.
But God didn’t.… pic.twitter.com/l7hGDZX58b
#Baylor quarterback Sawyer Robertson has the sixth highest QBR in the nation.

The season before he won the Heisman at BU, RG3 had 22 TDs and 8 INTs. Sawyer Robertson is sitting at 20 TDs and 4 INTs with three games left to play. And he didn't become the starter until Week 3.

Hopefully the NIL program has enough money to hold off the poachers.
While I understand the Will Howard comparison - and we certainly couldn't win a bidding war with Ohio State or the like - we do have more resources than Kansas State. I'm hopeful we can sweeten the pot enough to keep Robertson.boognish_bear said:Guitarbiscuit said:

He seems very happy here. His faith is a big part of who he is so that is in our favor. He's a Texas kid so this is home for him. He obviously is thriving in Spav's system and if Spav is back that has to be appealing.
But....big money is big money. We just saw Ohio St lure Will Howard away from KSU with a million dollar NIL deal.
Sure hope we can hang on to him.

Sawyer didn't run much at all against wvu.
I don't think they mind running him because we've used the quarterback run game pretty effectively all year. But you only do it when you have to (for the reasons you mention), and West Virginia never made us.Mitch Blood Green said:McCavebear said:

Doesn't seem like they want him running. Running is a quick way to play your second string QB.
Sawyer Robertson has the 6th best QBR in the country, and I’d say he’s in pretty good company. pic.twitter.com/cQ7sCYv2XM

I can't remember the last game I saw a Baylor QB have to get up off the ground as few times as Sawyer did so on Saturday. Pass protection has been absolutely stellar lately.bear2be2 said:I don't think they mind running him because we've used the quarterback run game pretty effectively all year. This is the most surprising thing about our turnaround for me. Watching our run game through the first half of the season, I never imagined we'd be mauling people the way we are on the ground right now.Mitch Blood Green said:blackie said:I can't remember the last game I saw a Baylor QB have to get up off the ground as few times as Sawyer did so on Saturday. It's what an outstanding running game gives you.
A bit of an unsung hero here. Our O line has really really improved.bear2be2 said:This is the most surprising turnaround this season. Spav and Mason Miller (and, of course, the players involved) deserve a massive amount of credit for the improvement we've seen up front and in the running game.
That's taken us from a one-dimensional offense with a pretty explosive passing game to an elite all-around offensive unit.
