Seems to me both schools are happy with them as coaches of their respective programs. They were expected to do better but neither seems to be on the hot seat. Especially not with a huge contract extension for one.
Both have 2 games left and could become bowl eligible.
UTSA also has a chance for a huge upset next weekend as they close out the year against Army.
Texas State would obviously prefer to be better than 6-4, but this was kind of an ideal scenario for them. Good enough to extend him and load in a nice fat buyout for yourself (by TXST standards), not so good that he gets poached before you have the opportunity to do it.
By now you know what Traylor is. But Kinne still has to prove that he can engage in long-term roster building and development considering he used his big wind-up punch last year on half his roster being portal guys with nothing on tape for coaches to analyze. He did the Prime thing with no elite sons or a #1 recruit or national presence to bring with him, so he's going to have to evolve for that buyout to come due. In other words, he's a flashy name right now but I'm not at all sold on him as a power conference program leader yet.
