Seems to me both schools are happy with them as coaches of their respective programs. They were expected to do better but neither seems to be on the hot seat. Especially not with a huge contract extension for one.

Both have 2 games left and could become bowl eligible.

UTSA also has a chance for a huge upset next weekend as they close out the year against Army.

Texas State would obviously prefer to be better than 6-4, but this was kind of an ideal scenario for them. Good enough to extend him and load in a nice fat buyout for yourself (by TXST standards), not so good that he gets poached before you have the opportunity to do it.

By now you know what Traylor is. But Kinne still has to prove that he can engage in long-term roster building and development considering he used his big wind-up punch last year on half his roster being portal guys with nothing on tape for coaches to analyze. He did the Prime thing with no elite sons or a #1 recruit or national presence to bring with him, so he's going to have to evolve for that buyout to come due. In other words, he's a flashy name right now but I'm not at all sold on him as a power conference program leader yet.

I think UTSA will get bowl eligible tonight against Temple. That game's in San Antonio, where the Roadrunners haven't lost all year.

I don't have much hope for the Army game, though. A) They're really good, and B) UTSA hasn't won a road game yet this season.

They should have beaten both Rice and Tulsa on the road, but they gave up late touchdown drives to lose both.

It's wild that they've started four different players at left guard. I don't think there are many teams in modern college football that have the line depth to do something like that without feeling it ... and UTSA is definitely not one of them.

UTSA lost a close one today to Army. UTSA finishes at 6-6 and TxSt at 7-5.

BU has been quoted as saying "We are not an institution of football." A plain but honest message.
My guess is that no one has ever called you Barnabus.

Texas State has been decimated like quite nobody else I have seen across the country to top things off with graduating/exhausting eligibility to 15+ additional starters. Texas State has some solid adds in there for the taking.

UTSA dominates Coastal Carolina 44-15 in the Myrtle Beach bowl to end the season with a winning record at 7-6.

Coastal had 7 players sitting out including their QB.

That not withstanding. It looks like we may dodged bullets a year ago.

Nah, these guys are both good coaches. They are also both in tough situations. Traylor would do well at any big program in Texas. I would like to see more tape on Kinne.
