They could have taken their pick between him, Baldwin and Washington. All would have been deserving. And Cameron and Pendergrass had great games, too.

I think if you are an Ohio State and always bring a senior transfer QB in to start, it impacts your ability to recruit younger players. You have to be careful when you are a mega program.

Doesn't seem to be impacting Ohio St. They have the #3 ranked QB in '25 already in this class and are expected to get a commitment from the #2 ranked QB in '26 class in two weeks.

And they got the one of the top 2 QBs that had committed to Bama before Saban retired. They aren't hurting as far as getting QBs

He's so under the radar that the coaching staff didn't even connect the dots at first.
Perhaps Sawyer hadn't connected the dots at first. I don't know. Are you certain? There are very few people that know why Finn was the game one starter and I doubt they are on this board.

It didn't help that we tossed him into an offense that he didn't understand last season. Finn got the big bag in the off-season, and that's why he got the start even if he was never the best QB on the roster.

Only the 5th best QBR in the country. It's not like he was two time Offensive Player of the Week or anything.

This likely due to the fact that we quietly attained an 8-4 record after being left for dead at the beginning of the season and after the debacle of last season. I'm afraid the powers that be just didn't notice as we were never ranked at any point, so they reasoned we couldn't have that great of a quarterback.

Let's have a "2013/2014" kinda' year next season and the world of college football will take notice, AGAIN!

It kind of feels like that is what we have loading right now. With our nonconference schedule we may find out pretty quickly if it's looking like a special season developing.

How does the no. 5 qb in the nation on an 8 win team not even make honorable mention ? Same for Washington. He's the best rb in the big 12 along with Devin neal.

Is there some contractual obligation to keep paying Finn? Seems like a bad investment.
I hope you are asking this as a rhetorical question because none of the geniuses on this board would have a factual answer. But, of course that doesn't stop someone from saying they have seen the contract or talked to an "insider" that has. That said, you would think it would have been for a year since that is all the eligibility he had left, at least I think that is what I heard.
Does everyone get bitter and smarmy when they pass 70 years old, or is it just you?

No, we just get smarter.

Sawyer should have absolutely been at least honorable mention all-Big 12.

But there are a lot of really good backs in the Big 12. In addition to Washington and Neal, you've also got R.J. Harvey, Tahj Brooks, Cameron Skattebo, DJ Giddens, Corey Kiner, Ollie Gordon (rough 2024 season notwithstanding), etc.

Washington being named offensive newcomer of the year, offensive freshman of the year and honorable mention RB is pretty good.

Agreed on the conference having lots of good backs, but I think Washington was not HM RB, nor was he offensive freshman or newcomer of the year. He was HM offensive freshman and newcomer of the year. Still good honors, but his last 8 games were some of the best we've seen. Not just in yardage, but the way he got his yards.

And Robertson was a total robbery.

I can't believe no love for SR. Wow.

He will show them next year!

If anyone is panicking on getting a backup QB for Sawyer Robinson, look no further than our incoming class. Edward Griffin is the real deal. For Coppell this year, and I watched all home games and a few road games, his execution on the field resembles Sawyer's…his touch, his down field accuracy, his decisions, his running ability…all made me think SR on the field.

Give SR two more years at Baylor, and EG as an understudy will be ready to continue to move the Baylor offense.

Wait...does SR have 2 years left? I thought next year was his last

I believe Sawyer only has one more year of eligibility -- having played in five games in 2022 at Mississippi State and six last season for us.

Forgot about the Mississippi time. So he's got one year as an understudy.

I believe he shut his recruiting down fairly early, otherwise I would have to think that he'd have more P5 offers. As you mentioned, he had great productivity in a competitive 6A district

The league wants to see a larger body of work, and so should we BU fans. Entirely reasonable. No question our guys had some fine seasons, but that's the right criterion.
