Weird call by FAU. Unfortunately McGuire is going to look where he always looks for coaches. At Arandamart Spav may get a better raise than planned here.

I don't think he has any prior relationship with Spav. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after Neal Brown. He was an offensive coordinator there under Tommy Tuberville

I think Neal is getting the head job at his alma mater UMass.

Yep, I was thinking Graham Harrell as one of the other obvious candidates. I think he could do decently at tech, but his resume also doesn't strike fear in my heart

He was fired mid season from OC duties at Purdue a month or so ago.

I could not understand that. When the DC got fired yesterday I saw several tech fans on Twitter saying they fired the wrong coordinator.

Zach just led Tech to the #8 Scoring Offense in the country. They finished 8-4. That's only their second 8 win season since 2013.

What is their beef with him? They might be missing him next year

Wasn't it their first 8 win regular season since 2009?

A lot of Tech fans have been weirdly negative about this season, which is really odd considering its Tech's best overall since 2009 and in conference play since 2008.

And I've never cared much for Kittley's offense, but his unit was pretty good this year. They ran the ball well with Brooks and had their most efficient passing game in a while.

That said, if I was Joey McGuire, I'd use this opportunity to get away from the Air Raid tree and get closer to the complementary style he wants to play. They could certainly stand to get more physical on the offensive side of the football, and doing so would likely help their struggling defense out.

Yes… Previous 8 win seasons included the bowl game

Wonder if TT has the war chest to pry Jeff Nixon away from Syracuse and reunite him with Joey.

The Syracuse offense was really effective this year. Of course it helped having McCord.

McCord and several really good skill players.

I hear there's an up and coming WR coach at Nebraska Joey could hire...

And Joey sleeps with his mom!

But he does have one with Shawn Bell.

Shawn was elevated to interim OC last week..if he gets the permanent gig I doubt he leaves Houston for that dust bowl.

Well…..Garrett MCGuire is reportedly not going to be retained by Rhule and Holgerson. Nothing official. I just read a report about it. He may end up with the Qb coach part of Kittley's old job. At least I think he was OC/QB.
