If Ohio State and Oregon weren't playing each other, they'd have had a great shot to put three teams in the semifinals. And their mid-tier teams have dramatically outperformed everyone else's in their bowl games.

Even the teams that lost as underdogs -- Rutgers against Kansas State, Iowa against Missouri and Washington against Louisville -- very easily could have won their games.

Yeah. Regardless of who wins NC at this point, B10 was the best conference overall.

Unlikely...but after Georgia lost today if OM loses to Duke tonight the mighty SEC would be .500 in bowl season leading into UT playing OSU next week.

Duke without Malik Murphy gonna have a tough road though.

The good news for the ACC… They cannot lose any more games this bowl season.

There is a difference between the B1G and SEC being great with the B1G being better this season, and the SEC not being great. Those two concepts are getting a bit conflated in this thread.

B1G drops to 8-5 with Penn State losing to Notre Dame last night. They still maintain the best bowl record though.

If UT wins tonight over Ohio State then the SEC will move into the top spot.

I may just be quibbling here, but the SEC shouldn't be too proud this year.

ND, two B10 teams, and UT (which was in the B12 last year) barely scrapes by ASU (P10 team now in B12).

Not a traditional SEC team anywhere in the mix, and even the new SEC member barely made it.

I hate it that we spit the bit against LSU. Any 2 of Baylor, Tech, and ASU pulling out a victory flips the script substantially. Just a lot of parity in CFB now.

Re: Baylor, I think we just weren't ready for a moment that big. All the more reason to continue to ramp up non-con games. The more big teams / big moments the better now that we have a 12-team playoff. You need to play the best teams you can and be battle tested. More like CBB than the old CFB model where you were striving for a perfect record.
