Hard to imagine because we're not talking about hundreds of millions needed BUT, Alabama is a relatively poor state.

No oil and gas billionaires like Texas and few if any Wall Street billionaires like Duke, et al.

Might be true.

Nothing is as constant as change.

They just need about 50 rich guys to waste their money on the current insanity of "college" sports.

They will probably find them. Never underestimate testosterone fueled ego.

What college isn't asking for money?? I've had more requests for money from Baylor than I have from Bama.

I've never been asked for NIL money from Baylor. Maybe they know that I'm broke. I did get a text the other day asking for 5 dollars, but I don't believe it was for NIL

I hope our rich guys here at Baylor keep taking their testosterone supplements. I just want to win

Not to pat myself on the back, but called this months ago. Lots of programs that think they are haves are realizing they are have nots in this system,

Also, his last sentence is so hilarious. All the sudden now that Bama can't keep up, the system is untenable. They created the system for petes sake.

USC is towards the top with regard to the number of billionaire alumni, as well as alumni on the Forbes and 100+ million lists. But it takes having the money, as well as the interest in football, or the football program, to make it happen.

Well yeah. Ask Stanford about that.

Universities with hundreds of millions in endowments and obscene tuition rates begging for donations is disgraceful.

It doesn't work the way that this sentence implies that it does.

Yeah, Clay Travis is the dude I'd be taking cues from on this - he's definitely not pulling this out of his ass or anything.

Alabama football is still fabulously wealthy by CFB and even SEC standards. Any available metric you can find will hold this up. Travis' assumption presumes that the only reason players transfer or play anywhere is money. Alabama is shedding guys Saban recruited who stuck it out at Alabama through a coaching change because they were getting bank. A season after DeBoer, who many no doubt don't respect because he didn't recruit them and because he's *ahem* not the greatest coach of all time, many of them are jumping ship as fast as possible.

Alabama is not losing and will not lose because they don't have the bank to keep pace. They are losing because the guy they hired to run the program isn't half as good as the last guy they had. That job was always a poisoned chalice, and DeBoer was just the one dumb and arrogant enough to think he could take it on.

You never want to be the guy who follows the guy. You want to be the guy who follows the guy who follows the guy.

Their AD is crying poor a lot, though, and publicly expressing concerns about the system and Alabama's ability to keep up in it -- which is, of course, hilarious.

The shoe ends up on the wrong foot one time, and everyone starts losing their mind.

Yep. And no need to ask 'em. Stanford is our oldest rival. We know them well.
