Wouldn't it be wonderfully ironic if Texas gets eliminated from the College Football Playoff by a Big 12 team.

It would be wonderful although very unlikely. I wanted Clemson to beat them and, naturally, I'd like to see ASU advance. However, as things look now, I expect the title game to be Oregon vs Georgia.

It would be funny, sorta, if Texas were to play Georgia a third time this season.

If Texas were to play Georgia again and win, then they would be the national champions even though Georgia beat them twice. That just doesn't the same right!!

We're all Arizona State, Boise State, and Notre Dame fans for the next week to keep this from becoming an all SEC/Big Ten event.

I went to the trail of lights last night. So many "distinguished alumni" wearing all kinds of off brand Texas gear.

That is what happened to us in 2005....we hammered UT in baseball during the season, and they eliminated us in Omaha.

Villanova beat Georgetown in basketball after losing 3 times during the season. A&M women beat us after losing 3 times. You got to beat them the last time.

This is what I hate about the TX UIL system that expanded the playoff to 4 teams in a district. When I was in high school, you won your district or you were done. You are correct you have to beat a team the last time. It is kind of like baseball when you have an ace pitcher and not much else to throw at the opponent. In football or basketball you may have a scheme that the opponent is just not ready to handle. But once you show it to beat them and win your conference, the opponent has plenty of time to scheme to beat it later in the season. I think that is what beat the women with the A&M situation. When the level of competition is not GROSSLY imbalanced, if you play enough times the weaker team is certain to win at least once.

It all goes to the question of how many times do you have to beat someone? And the answer is once, if it is the right time.
