Washington should have called the ref's bluff and tried to perfectly time the snap again.

I was thinking the same thing. Not like it made any difference. If he timed it just perfectly and succeeded again would it still be a penalty and nullify it? They didn't jump on purpose to get penalty.

Not so impartial.

One day a nose or tackle is going to figure out how to land a punch on the QB's throat in that scrum.

Then the NFL will review modifying the rules of that play.

Apparently this rule was used in a Rice-Alabama game where a Bama player came off the bench to tackle the Rice player before he scored. The refs awarded Rice the TD.

Yep. My mom was fresh out of college and at that game. She had gotten a new fur coat for Christmas and wanted to wear it. My grandfather made her promise to not take if off if she did. It was over 70 degrees that day at the Cotton Bowl.

Now that KC is in the Super Bowl with the fan interest they bring, maybe the refs will call a fair game. Probably doesn't matter much who wins as long as the maximum number of households are tuned in.
