I'm curious as to how much we have paid in NIL for next year's team if this in fact happens. Just curious because Tech is bragging about theirs and story out today has Blanchard saying they will win the XII. I like the approach of us not talking smack. If a pundit like this wants to that is fine. But no one from our athletic department should be.

Tech likes to brag about everything except their big 12 championship.

Daquan Finn is a good example that large NIL sums don't necessarily translate to on field success.

Mike Leach's locker room rant after their win against us in 2009 perfectly describes Tech's culture -- "yeah we did something that one time that wasn't really anything and now we think we're hot ****"

After beating us in 2009? We had not turned the corner yet in 2009. Beating us in 09 was about like beating us in any other year of that decade.

They barely beat a Blake Szymanski-led Baylor team at AT&T Stadium and Leach ranted about his team's entitlement. That Tech team was like most Leach teams, solid but nothing special.

If you've watched the video, you'll know he's referring to their culture being crappy that entire year because they went 11-2 the year before and beat Texas. Wasn't referring to their win against us as being the reason for the rant.

I dont remember the incident or remember ever seeing a video of it even from back then.

It's going to be nearly wide-open most years in the NIL/transfer era. As we saw this past season, nearly any team can be "that team" that unexpectedly surges as a contender for the conference title.

But I don't see why Baylor would be any sort of shocker, considering their transformation after the first few games.
