Was KSU ranked number 1 when we beat them I. 2012? Maybe it was the BCS standings.

1980 MissSt over Bama. Score was announced by George Stokes over the PA system around halftime at Baylor Stadium. IIRC, it left UGA, Notre Dame and Baylor as the only undefeated, untied teams in the country. Unfortunately, about 90 minutes later our halftime lead over San Jose St evaporated, and instead of being the feature of a Sports Illustrated cover story, we instead got lumped into an article about all the upsets in college football that week.

Honorable mention to 2002, with the only unranked team to beat a #1 one year, only to lose to them 77-0 the following year.

That was also the same bama team that would ultimately beat us in that season's Cotton Bowl 30-2. Had we taken care of biz at home against San Jose State that day, going into the Cotton Bowl game we would've had a shot at the National Championship.

Apparently they were #2 in the AP poll, but I'd have sworn they were #1. Was it the coaches' poll?

K State was #1 in the BCS rankings when BU rolled them in 2012

1998.

Michigan State's upset of Ohio State at the Horseshoe.

While it's no big deal now, a lot of Big Ten teams rarely played at night in the 90's. So that just made the game even more memorable.

Might have also been Ohio State's best team (even better than their national title teams).

Blew a 24-9 lead in the 2nd half and couldn't get the TD in the red zone in the final minute.

Just ask any Buckeye fan older than 35, and they'll probably tell you that was their most devastating loss.

Kept them out of the first BCS Title game (Tennessee and FSU would play for the title that year).

Funny thing is that Nick Saban was on the Michigan State sideline that day, and that upset was really the beginning of his run to greatness.

I remember watching that Thursday night Oregon State vs USC game. The Rodger's brothers said not tonight scoring all four of the beavers touchdowns from memory
