JJ Joe is a Baylor Legend - - everything he did on and off the field. Really sad to learn this news...
I survived the "widow maker" last month. I would encourage everyone to get a Calcium Marker test - my cardiologist from Houston Methodist says it's the only true test to identify blockage, etc. as my initial blood work was clear and I was showing no prior symptoms..

Not a whole lot on YouTube from way back then, but here is a typical JJJoe play we ran numerous times:
The games that are out there are mostly our stinkers from that era (1991 Rice, 1991 & 1992 Aggy, 1992 LaTech, 1992 Colorado), but here are a couple of better ones.
1991 TCU:
And the 1992 John Hancock Bowl over Arizona:
His ability to nonchalantly hide the ball on his back hip while waiting for Melvin Bonner to run free over the middle wasn't seen again around here until RGIII. Unfortunately no apparent YouTube highlights of that on display from 1991 Mizzou and SMU, or the famous "Alumni Special" vs Georgia Tech in 1992.
I looked for one of those, but couldn't find one other than the video at Tech posted above. I seem to recall that after we ran that play so successfully to Lee Miles vs. Houston, defenses started to "stay home" and not follow the fake sweep to the other side. So we ran the play, swept everyone to the right, faked the reverse pitch left to Miles, and JJ kept it for a TD around the right side.PartyBear said:whitetrash said:

He also had an opposite play in which he would fake a long pass stand there like he didn't have the ball anymore with the ball behind his hip and casually flip it to a guy running across behind him for usually a decent run. The best performance of this was against UH in 91 or 92 perhaps at home that went for a TD. There may be video of that posted. However I cannot access those for some reason.
