....Excited for this season and for Week 1 vs. you guys one more time!

Is this the genral sentiment for the AU fanbase? Excited to play Baylor; or is it pretty much meh...it's just Baylor?

I would say for most its meh Baylor. But still pumped for CFB to be back.

Beyond just the excitement of having college football back, my guess is most Auburn fans view this as a "taking care of business type game" and a W over BU won't in and of itself generate much additional excitement unless it's a real laugher of a blowout (which is possible). On the other hand if BU somehow pulls the upset, I'm guessing at least a decent chunk of Auburn fans will want Golesch fired after one game.

I have a lot of friends that are auburn fans. Many of them have crazy high expectations that this is the year and they buy the hype every time. Its cute but I do think they are on the way up and will take a turn as better than bama for a bit in the next few seasons. I generally like them as fans and people.

Everyone hates us

Auburn and most other teams don't hate us. Auburn hates Alabama.

Meh implies Indifferent, unconcerned, apathetic. Auburn sees Baylor as... meh.

I wish everyone hated us. You have to be good (Ohio State, Alabama, etc.) to be hated, with the exception of Texas A&M... they are universally hated whether they are good or bad.

With respect to the Auburn game... I think Auburn easily covers unless Auburn (1) has not been able to grasp the new coaching staff's schemes and makes mental errors, (2) commits multiple turnovers and (3) has a bunch of penalties. If 1, 2 and 3 occur it might be close, but my crystal ball says Auburn easily covers.

Location, Auburn's back yard for a huge fan advantage, tradition/history, regardless of our view their athletes are better, Baylor is Baylor, Auburn's coaching staff is probably superior and realistically, would have to stump their toe. May be close early on, but SEC prevails convincingly.

I wish I disagreed, but I don't. Just don't think we have the horses to prevail against even a midlin' SEC team (which is prolly where Auburn is) unless they help us a lot through their own mistakes and/or poor play. Hoping to be proven wrong.

Yep, Baylor will need a lot of luck. Like +3 in the turnover margin luck.

GROK:

Baylor Bears all-time football records vs. the requested opponents (as of the most recent available data in 2026):

1. University of Texas at Austin (Texas Longhorns)
Texas leads 81-28-4 (113 meetings).

2. vs. University of Oklahoma (Sooners)
Oklahoma leads 28-5 (33 meetings).

3. vs. Texas A&M (Aggies)
Texas A&M leads 68-31-9 (108 meetings).

4. vs. Auburn University (Tigers)
Series tied 2-2-1 (5 meetings).

-

In a nutshell, based on historical results, we have a better chance against Auburn than the other SEC opponents we played yearly, some for over a century. And, I would offer that Baylor today has a better overall talent level than we had over most of the last century of play. The beauty of football is that anyone can win on any given day.

That is true in the NFL but not nearly as much at the college level. There are upsets but usually the team with more talent wins. Scheme does play a factor which is why Briles was so good but our BOR blew that up.

My two cents. If Baylor gets their running game going...... it won't be close.. Don't see Auburn with enough punch to keep up with Bears offense.

Sites to see are Mammoth State Park, Cameron Park Zoo.

September isn't really an ""outdoors" month in central TX, temperatures and humidity will likely just be a tick below the blowtorch we are currently experiencing
