All that tech oil money being thrown at really good talent. If Joey/staff can't convert that into a conference championship (tech's first ever), I say he's ****canned.

Well he was gifted an incredibly favorable schedule. Oftentimes the narrative of the team is written early in the season and difficult to change. Given the ease of their early season schedule, it's hard to imagine the narrative for most of the season isn't going to be "Joey's finally got it rolling, look what money can do..." Even if they are exposed as only pretty good at the end of that season, I don't think the narrative will ever turn into "Joey isn't the guy." Just my prediction.

It would be extremely funny if they dont make the big 12 championship.. (which no media pundit have tech in the championship game) but if they dont, Joey's seat will be hot

There's probably G5 schedules more difficult than what Tech plays this year. That said I bet they go 9-3 at best. Anything worse and he's gone

I think if they don't win the XII championship game or God forbid for them, they don't play in it, those folks including the money ones are going to think they can just lure Sark from Austin even after a potential national title, or Saban out of retirement just if they create an opening. So I think the pressure is pretty hot with all the $$ they have thrown into this season along with the hype. Hype that McGuire himself spins for their fans to consume. If Tech stupidly decides to have an opening even after having for them one of their better seasons in history. They won't hire up from what they have. Caveat here if Lincoln Riley is feeling his seat is heating up for 26, he may be available to be bought due to his being a west Texan and Tech grad.

That said I spoke with a Tech grad probably more objective one and level headed one, he said while folks would be disappointed if it is another typical Tech year, he doesn't think McGuire would be fired. The administration is probably more like this guy in thinking but I don't know what this BMD can force on them in terms of decision making with his $$$.

He's not getting fired unless they have a horrific season.

Remember a lot of this so called talent is freshman this year..or high school kids starting in 2026..

So if they have a mid year this year he'll get one more.

The Tech administration will do whatever Cody Campbell tells them to do. "Yessir boss man".

ESPN is reporting Tech's stud running back transfer from USC is out for the season with a knee injury.

A lot of their impact transfers are upperclassmen. It's likely fair to assume Tech expects to win big right away. You don't spend that kind of dough to go 7-5

In the current atmosphere, almost any coach can feel a certain amount of heat when success fails to come close to expectations. And when expectations are heightened by the amount of resources are spent on talent, they are going to have to produce pretty soon.

I'm not rooting for or against Joey, or Tech, except for being a Baylor rival that I want Baylor to beat, like all others. But they seem to be putting all the chips all on the table.

I don't follow what Tech has done other than seeing they have spent 20 million for this season's team, about what Texas and Ohio St have paid. I assume the above quote is correct and they spent it on guys like the kid from USC who tore his ACL yesterday. If they have spent most of that 20 million on kids who graduated from high school this past May, their money guy is an idiot.

He's an extremely likeable and approachable guy - he'll need a few really bad years.
