No team from a Group of 5 conference was ranked in the initial CFP rankings. If this were to happen in the final rankings, the committee would simply select what they believe is the best G5 conference champion to be the 12 seed.

Mack Rhoades says that Texas Tech wasn’t dinged too bad for their loss to ASU because they didn’t have their starting QB. This contrasts with their previous policy that an injured QB makes teams ineligible for the Playoff.

The Big 12 has a path for two teams to make it. The keys are (1) can BYU and Tech avoid losing to any other teams in the Big 12 for the rest of the season and (2) can BYU and Tech split games between each other?

Most probably the only path.

Slight scenario if Utah wins out and BYU beats Tech and Tech drops another and BYU stays unscathed until Arlington.

Wisconsin beat Washington today which makes the Big Ten record for Indiana's final regular season opponents 2-23.

Maryland: 1-5
Penn St: 0-6
Wisc: 1-5
Purdue: 0-7

Indiana played Michigan St (0-6) as well, so 5 of their 9 Big Ten conf opponents have a combined 2-29 record.

I do not understand the Notre Dame fascination at all. Notre Dame has a worse SOS (per ESPN) than BYU, one more loss, and can't match BYU's best win (13 v 17). Notre Dame should not be above Texas, Oklahoma, or BYU.

Texas A&M could make SEC champ game w/o playing Ole Miss, Bama, UGA, OU, Vandy.

GTech could make ACC title game w/o playing Miami, Lville, UVA, SMU, Duke.

Ohio St could make B1G title game w/o playing Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, USC.

This is not a good way to determine a champion.

Alamo Bowl again takes the highest available former Pac 12 school, which is why Ariz/ArizSt/USC/Wash are listed. We probably won't finish high enough in the Big12 to be in the mix; I think Alamo picks from the Big12 only behind PopTarts Bowl. We went 8-4 last year and got passed over for BYU, who pasted Colorado (as the former Pac12 team) in a foretaste of what was lying ahead for the Buffs.

I wouldn't be surprised to see USC vs. Utah, IowaSt or ArizSt, depending on how they finish.
