Idk...if you are walking into a situation where the President has said Aranda is good enough...are you going to feel confident you can create a winner in that environment?

Both were mistakes, but by comparison to Beall, Aranda is Vince Lombardi.

I know Yoda was hired primarily because he headed up LSU defense in their NC year. I'm of the opinion one of our own posters here could've headed up that years' LSU defense. The quality of players would overshadow the the inept coach.


Not only that, but LSU had one of the greatest offenses of all time that year. Go look back at some of their scores. Their offense definitely bailed the defense out in several games.

If you watch the ESPN documentary about that LSU National Championship season, they never once interview Dave or even mention his name or even show any practice film with him in it. It covers the entire season and he is never brought up at all.

Painful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Abysmal second half. I don't see how anyone can defend this.

That being said unless we want the regents and Linda hiring the next football coach then we can't fire Aranda until we get a new AD because no AD is signing up to hire a football coach with limited time and not even knowing the Baylor landscape. New AD might not show up until well after the season when all the preferred candidates have made decisions which leaves the pool of candidates to coordinators and very few on this board want to hire another coordinator. If the AD shows up after the portal has closed then no football coach is taking that job.

A real shyst time to need an AD

But the AD isn't showing up in time to bring a coach. Once the portal window closes no coach is taking a job. That's why Andrew Luck hired Frank Reich at Stanford and retained the rest of the old coach's staff. They couldn't make a full time hire that late in the cycle.

If the UNT AD was a yes and Eric Morris was a yes I think we'd have done that but that's not what has happened so far. No AD wants to come in to a new job and make their most important hire 1 or 2 weeks into the job. The UNT AD is really the only candidate I've seen with a coach he could bring with him.

It's likely the new AD doesn't start until sometime in 2026. Way too late to begin a coaching search. The portal window just makes it really difficult. If we were going to be hiring a coach we'd need to have 3 dudes lined up already to be making final offers. Coaches want to be fully up and running before the portal
