Boys, what you witnessed this afternoon can only
be called: Baylor Football Preview 2026.
Sad isn't it?

We are losing a lot of production on the offensive side of the ball. I think next year is going to be even uglier.

Depends on what we bring in. Perhaps some of the money that would have to be spent on the buyout will go to player pay. There have been assumptions every year on this board about how all the players are going to leave, they won't be able to recruit, yada, yada, yada. And for the most part, as with most predictions on these boards, they have been wrong.

We know in this age of free agency, you don't know what your roster will look like next year.......or even next month. Just enjoy the time away from football.

Edit.......hope we have players that can take better care of the ball more and have a QB that is mobile enough to avoid a rush.

I have zero faith in the current coaching staff to bring in the players you are hoping for. It's just not going to happen. We have a tough schedule next year. At best, we will be 3-9.

Pretty much.

Next years schedule is brutal relative to what they faced this year.

@Auburn
Prarie View A&M
SMU
@Arizona State
Colorado
Texas Tech
TCU
Iowa State
@ BYU
@ Houston
@ Kansas
@ UCF

It is very likely to be a 1-11 or 2-10 year.

Some of us could see through the "awesome" offensive stats last week vs. Utah and saw troubling signs and knew this offense had problems. Robertson has significantly degressed. Play calling is abysmal. The defense was its usual bad self. The tv commentator said Jacob Redding, a walk-on, has become the defense's best player. That pretty much sums up Ave Arana's defense. Ave Arana has lost this team. They gave up around the time we went for it on 4th and failed, instead of settling for a field goal that would have put us within one point with a whole quarter to go. You could almost hear the collective deflation.

I'm actually sort of glad NIL happened, because that caused me to detach emotionally from Baylor sports. I'm just a little more than a casual observer now. It makes watching disasters like that a lot more bearable. Pun intended.

LMFAO that anyone is dumb enough to think that any quality player will touch this program while Aranda remains.

we are Chernobyl level of radioactive right now.

Why would good players with other options want to jump on this sinking ship?

And if your only answer is money, you can expect all of those guys to quit as soon as we start next season 2-4 or so.

Defense simply quit on Aranda those last 3 AZ possessions.

Before the year started Dave said something along the lines of this is the most talent he's had to work with. I won't be feeling any more confident next year even if we have a highly touted group coming in if Dave is still here.

Amen. There is no hope or reason to believe we are headed to a better place if we can just tough this season out. We know what we have in Dave.

Could you not make dave the water boy, hire a coach, and avoid Dave's buyout?

There is two schools of thought here either you recruit 4/5 star players or you develop the 2/3 star players to play much higher than their talent level. Dave has not proven he can do either of these things, how many OC have we gone though and the play calling still looks the exact same, ie 3rd in long and all the routes are underneath not even giving the player a chance to succeed, very predictable inside run plays not using our speed to get outside the tackles. Bottom line is Dave is not a good recruiter, when was the last time he got 4/5 star player, and honestly I'm not sure it really matter what players you have on the field if the playing calling stays the same, Aranda is suppose to be a defensive guru and yet our defense is at bottom of almost every category. And if you haven't figured it out yet, BU is not going to spend big money on players in the transfer portal. When i played here we were known for our defense, we may not win every game but by God we had a chance to pull it out every week, those days seem to be gone under this coaching staff. Its time to move on to a new Coach, somethings cant be fixed. Even if BU was flushed with cash and decided to spend it on 5 star Players, who would want to come here right now? Art Briles could walk into any star players home and convince them / sell them on the brand and the program he was building, if we don't fix that its going to be another 20+ years of failure sadly.

I think the word you wanted is regressed. I agree that Robertson is not playing as well as he was earlier in the season.

I don't know how the hell we beat SMU and KSU this year.

I don't have any belief we would win if we played them right now. We've devolved through this season.

Not to focus on vocabulary, but no, I meant there has been a degression in Sawyer's development, meaning he's actually worse than when he started. Maybe he's got some sort of injury we don't know about. I'm surprised to not find "degress" in the dictionary as the verb form of "degression". I thought it was a word. "Regress" would kind of fit, but not exactly, as I'm not saying that he initially improved but now he's fallen back to where he was before. Honestly, I haven't really seen him improve at all (or maybe just a little) since he played last season. He's just sort of been the same until his decline recently. I blame the coaches. They don't seem to be developing players. And that is a major contributor to the poor state of the program.
