Careful, the "brand" you're leaving is a crusty, disgruntled, full of hatred Senior Citizen who feels he and team aren't getting their dues. Just give it a rest, you're not going to influence a person's deep seeded likes/dislikes. Your "gotcha moment" isn't seasoning well to many.

You think I care what some limp-wristed, pencil necked with dishwater hands effeminate Baylor BOYS think. Real men know exactly what I am talking about.

We'll maybe you fibbed about about being a blue chip committed to Texas. You've bragged about it numerous times on this board.
Kinda like your college entrance scores maybe?
Don't worry about it. It's hard for you to keep up.

It has been almost 24 hours since this news came out. I don't really see a lot of uproar on social media. I guess enough time has passed where this isn't stirring things up.Congrats to Art Briles. The media coverage of him at Baylor was shameful. https://t.co/IZvRkwK26E

The posts that disagree with Clay Travis say wildly untrue things. It is amazing how good a job our own board did of smearing Baylor and convincing so many people of a false narrative that was way worse than what actually took place. I've never seen worse crisis management in my entire life.

Go Greyhounds.

Do you ever get tired of trying to tell people who they should root for simply because their opinions don't align with yours?
Because as far as I can see you spend a good chunk of your time telling people how they should feel about BU.. And by god if they don't feel exactly how you do…

Thee, there's no more Scarlet Letter. No one under 50 even cares. You were on a great team, but now, you know you're miserable with Baylor. You are a great fan and were a very good player, but Art's brand is great football, and more and more media and fans acknowledge it.
People in Waco love and appreciate Art a la the 700 strong standing O he received recently.
Be happy and be well.

Seriously I was one of Art's biggest supporters during those years. I didn't chase him around for an acknowledgement or to rub elbows with him or pray that he remembered my name. Not my style nor my need.
I just simply have a problem with how he left the program. Tarred and feathered. He, Ken Starr & Ian McCaw are to blame. They all failed miserably in their own little selfish worlds. In a sense we are paying for it now. Had Art played by the Baylor rules and kept his eye on the ball, he would have very well been on the sidelines coaching yesterday, been considered the new Nick Saban and we might have added that 10,000 seat expansion onto McLane by now.

Serious question. Is the BOR not on the list of people you blame? The 60 Minute clown show? The Crying Out to God guy? The Pepper Hamilton debacle? The "Perverted Little Tarts" dude. I admit Briles/Starr could have handled it better. Dont you agree that the BOR made a bad situation even worse? If so, then we've got some middle ground.

I believe that the BOR, with a goal of doing damage control based upon the information they had to work with at various times, did what they did to protect people and Baylor University. I agree that a PR professional should have been hired and in control of any and all press releases.
I've been watching, listening and learning about how Baylor operates for about 48 years now.
In a way I blame myself. I could sense where this program was headed and I should have at least tried to call Art and talk to him about my concerns as a former player for 4 years and then supporter and then offer some guidance if he would listen. Based on my very, very limited exposure to him over the years I doubt anything I warned him about would be acted upon.
I find it hard to believe that either Ken Starr or Ian McCaw did not intervene and remind him about "playing with fire" I think both Ken & Ian were drunk on W's or high on what turn-around W's after so many whippings from OU and UT can do for a small, .510 lifetime program. Art went 4-4 versus Texas and 3-5 versus OU.
Certainly the BOR made some horrific statements/moves.

…what the BOR did to (in my opinion) prop up a narrative about the overall purity of the Baylor campus and Briles being the reason rich sorority gals had all of a sudden "found" football players.

Any Baylor fan slobbering over Art would hate him to this day if he'd have left us for UT in 2015 there is zero doubt about that, but they tell themselves otherwise because acknowledging he never felt total loyalty to Baylor would take all the wind out of their "WE DESERVE THIS FOR WHAT WE DID TO ART" self-flagellating bull*****
The man brought a Heisman Trophy, a new State of the Art Stadium, and a couple of Big 12 titles to Waco.
For those of us who followed loss after loss in buried in the back of the box scores in the sports section for a decade, that was practically as unbelievable as Baylor winning a national championship would be in 202x.
Then there are people who are just ungrateful.
I'm a middle aged Waco-native Baylor grad (4-6 generations of Baylor alums depending on if I get to count extended family). I'm very well aware of Baylor's historical standing in College Football. So yeah, there's zero question that Art accomplished things that seemed impossible at Baylor. He's a first ballot HOF coach on a purely football-related analysis.
But Drayton McLane brought a new state of the art stadium, full stop. Art was not performing miracles in a vacuum - he had unprecedented levels of support for a Baylor coach. That support began forming well before he hit his peak: Art's folksy brand of Texan played perfectly with our biggest donors, and they were already supporting him in a big way even before Robert won the Heisman.
What Baylor football needs right now isn't Art Briles, but rather full buy-in from our wealthiest alumni. Their collective clout and resources are a massive part of why Art succeeded here, and their potential benefaction is huge part of why Matt Rhule, Joey McGuire, and Dave Aranda all wanted to be coaches here.

Were you there or were you already affixed to his derriere and got drug into the clubhouse?
