I know we're doing hyperbole but this unironically is the fundamental problem. They are fixated on this beyond what is useful.

It's a nice feature of the program but it is not the main thing in major sports. Being committed to service and humility does not = soft.. but they are conflating the two.

It is really ruining the toughness and culture of several of the programs (Drew's a little different).

He was a grad student interning at Midway.

Not on payroll. Not teaching.. not involved in the athletic program in any way. Baylor sent out a tweet and release condemning the person's statement on Kirk's death.

Was he permitted to complete the requirements for his degree?

Was he given (or will he be given) the degree?

Tweeting your objection to his behavior is wholly inadequate. Flushing his academic career and withholding his degree is adequate.

If Baylor pulled scholarships from everyone one who posted something offensive (to some) there's be no students left.

If he was employed by Baylor.. or the Waco ISD .. way different story and there would be consequences to his free speech.

It's one thing for a school with a Christian mission to tolerate free speech. It's quite another to continue to have a student enrolled who celebrates a felony.
