oK here goes
This has been on my mind for 4 days now

Linda was born in Perkins Oklahoma and played BB for Oklahoma state. Her husband played also. She received all three of her degrees from Ok St. I would say she has connections at Ok St and is probably a sports fan as well. When she announced that Aranda was being retained, that basically opened the door for Oklahoma State to hire coach Morris from North Texas. This was a coach I wanted at Baylor. It was a coach who was interested in the Baylor job according to two sports writers on two diffenent you tube channel sports shows.

Hmmm '
I wonder

ehhhh…seems like a bit of a stretch. Oklahoma state isn't operating like the CCP. They aren't planting sleepers throughout the big 12 so that one day they can manipulate the outcome on hiring a mid level head football coaching candidate.

The much more likely scenario is that she is not a competent president for a school that cares about football or sports in general. In her mind, we will do what Baylor always does and be just enough behind the power curve to ensure we are always playing catch up and making reactive decisions resulting in mostly irrelevant squads.

He was in all likelihood already hired by OSU well before Mack even took his leave of absence. Linda probably knew what was all actually still on the table in the HC coaching carrousel season she made her announcement regarding Aranda.

Some rumors are floating around that Morris was actually waiting on Baylor to make an offer because he preferred the Baylor job (for culture/location reasons).

This was also brought up on a locked on BU. There's plenty of smoke to believe that Morris at minimum had interest in BU

It's not planting sleepers. It's just subconsciously deciding not to go after a coach because your beloved Alma mater is interested in him.

I trust Cam more than most. He's the only one who calls it exactly how he sees it. He's typically avoids comments/thoughts that don't have any merit to them

Makes them no more than a poster here. Locked On has always been sensationalist bait with no sources other than what they can scrape off the Twittersphere secondhand

someone.on the BOR (if someone.is capable of course) should have recogniged a.conflict of interest there and taken Linda out of the decision making process.

Lot of Fox Mulders on this thread with conspiracy theories.

You think people here still hate Rhule?

We hire Morris and then this board explodes when he leaves for his alma mater in Lubbock when McGuire gets snatched up by a big school like Texas or USC.

I know this is Fox Mulderish but I have a feeling something is up. All the flips and no announcements of defensive staff firings thus far today at least. Could be nothing and probably is. But something about it seems strange.

Btw did we counter offer to these flips or is the bidding amount too high now?

yes, i've heard 3 different national writers say that morris preferred baylor over osu. he's still in his 30s, yet has 7 years of head coaching experience. he's a program builder (from scratch), and also a quarterback whisperer with a consistent track record of scouting and developing elite talent.

he'd be a fantastic fit into baylor's christian mission. i can't overstate how much baylor dropped the ball on this one. there's just so much evidence that morris is specialsimilar to leach or briles on the coaching side while also being someone who isn't going to land you on the front page of usa today with a scandalous headline.

this would've been football's version of baylor hiring scott drew, only morris's credentials are much, much stronger than drew when he arrived. this would've excited and unified an already fractured fanbase, given baylor back its bear raid identity, while placing baylor in a position for long-term success with a staff of young, hungry coaches, many of whom are destined for individual success in their own right as head coaches.

Party bear what do you think would be up. I have a feeling the might actually fire Aranda that's the only optimism I have but who the crap knows.

I mean they still aren't doing it without an AD and would be a disaster if they tried. Like I said it is probably nothing.

Baylor needs to change the inscription on their Seal to "Day late, Dollar Short. Reactive not Proactive".

The more I think about it, it seems more and more that it is just all about the money we have to spend on everything involved which is more than just Aranda's buyout. I'm sure a lot of us know in our personal lives what we should and perhaps want to do, but if the money is not there to do it, we can't.

The "money" is an excuse. You always make time for what's important - regardless. We don't have the leadership to do the right thing - regardless of the cost. Since Linda has ZERO understanding of the downstream financial impacts - not finding a way NOW will cost Baylor more over the long term.

I agree it's all about money and our lack of it. But I have no problem blaming the BOR, President Livingstone, and AD Rhoades for causing us to fall short of the required money.

It would not surprise me if Livingstone was not acting in Baylor's best interest. The inaction has been so egregious it's bordering on intentional.

It is alot more expensive now than just a couple of years ago if 20.5 million annually out of the revenue needs to go to pay athletes.

That is interesting. Do you have any further info as to why she was there?
