This is really an 11-team playoff + ND, by heavenly decree.

Can't help but see how much better the execution and fundamentals are with these two teams than Bu.
Consistently sound gap fills, aggressive pass rush while keeping contain, lbs and safeties actually seeing the field and taking good angles.

Pulling for Tech today.
They'll actually have a chance to make some noise in the CFP, as they'll have a first round bye with a win.
Plus, they have an offense that will keep them in most games.
BYU would likely be a one and done team.
Plus, I could see Tech getting left out altogether with a loss.
So I'd rather see them represent the conference when it's all said and done.
I don't care who wins. I just want justice served, and this BYU team 100 percent deserves a spot in the CFP.
Not only is that a really good football team, it's significantly better and more deserving than the SMU team that got in with the same regular-season record last year.

BYU's defense is incredibly sound too. If you said we need to drop real money on a real HC, id agree.

Agreed...ND's 10 wins only include 1 ranked team (USC) and opponents have a combined sub .500 record. But we all grew up loving Rudy and they are the media darlings.

Brett Yormark: "No Power Four team with an 11-1 record has ever finished outside the top 10 in the CFP rankings going into the championship week. BYU has been under appreciated .... BYU has been undervalued."

Watching BYU and Tech, it's so obvious how much better their players are coached. They are in position, they make tackles, they battle for inches.
I don't know that I've ever seen a Baylor team fielded that is as balanced as both of these teams are.

We definitely look like the JV squad next to these two
Miami and Notre Dame are both better than these two teams playing for a Big 12 title.

Has anyone noticed that neither BYU or Texas Tech played a decent out of conference opponent???

Technically, 2 teams. Pitt was also ranked when they dragged them a few weeks back.
So that's one more ranked win than BYU has on their resume.
Overall, Notre Dame has 5 wins over teams with winning records (3 of those teams won 9+ games).
BYU has 6 wins over teams with winning records (2 of those teams won 9+ games).
Gotta remove bias from the equation.
Notre Dame was already a more deserving team than BYU going into today's games, imo.
And that will definitely be the case if BYU doesn't figure out a way to rally in the 2nd half.

What a difference a year makes.
BYU barely held on to beat us at McLane last year, and we wacked Tech in Lubbock by 24 - nearly hanging 60 on them in the process.

BYU should have scheduled a tougher non-con slate then.
Portland State, Stanford, and ECU don't exactly scream world-beaters.
Scheduling a team like say, Notre Dame, this particular season, and beating them, would have likely ensured their inclusion in the field, regardless of today's outcome.
But a soft non-con schedule, coupled with several close calls, have put them in this 'must-win' situation.
At the end of the day, they control their own destiny. And given where we were just 2 years ago (with only a 4-team CFP), I think most teams would love to be in their shoes right now.
If they lose to the same team once again, then they will have no one to blame but themselves.
Same situation as Bama today, imo.
And Notre Dame has too much pull nationally to be left out of the CFP field, when you start putting them side-by-side with similar teams.
In any case, BYU's argument will be a moot point if they keep tempting fate with fake punts and other suspect play-calls.
