Well….if the claims are true about the BMDs they literally should be sending checks worth millions apiece in starting next week to shore up their guy and show appreciation for hiring their choice.

I realize that is not likely to happen and the claims toting this move are dubious but unfortunately that is my point. My point is the proof is going to show up in the pudding rather quickly. I think we should know in months whether the claims about him and being a big $$$ magnet for NILis real or BS. We can probably reasonably judge the hire within the first 6 months . I hope 10 to 15 BMDs from the old days send 3 million a piece in to the NIL fund before Christmas and pledge that annually. I would love to eat crow on this and call Linda an eccentric genius with regard to athletics.

If we are going to be a basketball school and not a football school I guess it makes sense to make sure CSD is all in

Was this after or before the loss to Memphis? He needs to focus on Basketball because we have been abysmal the last few years. That Natty gets further, and further away

This really is not any comfort at all. So he went all in on one of his trainers from 20 years ago. Is he expecting to be the defacto AD or defacto Co-Ad through this guy? Even if not. There is no room for benefit if the doubt anymore. The proof this is a great hire needs to start showing up right away.

Very similar to our football program. Win a championship and die. No effort to build on the solid foundation and slip right back to so so.
Thank you Miami Hurricanes. 10-3. :)

We cannot settle for being a basketball school in a football state with a football first fanbase. We have a national title winning coach and a competitive men's program that is and was nothing without that coach. We still struggle to travel and attend away games in far off places like Dallas and Houston.

I'm just glad we have a new guy, and a dude that is already a Baylor guy all the way, rather than another carpetbagger trying to make a name for himself.

Next step...

not sure this is a good thing...

Exactly. The problem with that thinking is the love for Baylor outweighs the love of winning. And that carpetbagger did a damn fine job here with little love for the place.

It's not even about a love of winning. For me, it's about credentials and being qualified. Graduating from and loving Baylor is not a job qualification.

Abysmal is way overstating the case. But the program has certainly stagnated.

The last sentence in this clip...

"as far as our athletic departments are concerned... success for us looks like did we deliver a great experience to our fans regardless if we win or lose."

I think the "great experience" part for fans is winning more often than losing.

It is funny how complex they have made all of this. Coaching and winning is about 80% of the "fan experience."

Stefano don't you remember the 1995 "nationwide search" to replace Frank Fallon?( The search that quickly landed BU Golden Boy John Morris should have been your cue to apply for any and all BU positions regardless of experience.
John has lasted 30 years and is now a legend in his own time per the Baylor radio network's billboard announcer.
I personally think Doug is an outstanding hire. He was here during the Briles glory years and is a smart man. I'm excited for our future.. Hopefully Doug makes it as long as John Morris has. FG
I am curious anyone know who replaced Doug at Magnolia?

In 21 Aranda was just as boring and dry as he is today but the fan experience was so much better.

Can anyone guess why?

Don't mean this harshly, but was I the only one that felt it looked like Momma was watching her offspring to see if he would stub his toe in front a large group? Closely observed her expressions.

I think he has opinions more closely aligned with fans that will be shown through his actions but need to be vocalized meticulously.

Kudos to LL in her response to why BU isn't participating in a Bowl. I felt my thoughts closely felt the same. I WILL say when she stated "Looked at a wide swath of type of candidates" meant to me it was doubtful they communicated with little to none other candidates.

The new AD's statement he could/would work with Yoda sealed the fact, IMO, he's handcuffed for '26. It was interesting when he said "I know they're really looking at things through a different lense, how they approach it and they will be making some HARD DECISIONS…"
I guess that means six years, six DC's and OC's… geese.
Hoping that works. It still just rings out loud "I'm on a leash".

I'll never understand why people continue to line the pockets of search firms to regurgitate the same names that everyone and their mom can easily put together.

Like fortune 100 companies paying 100s of millions to consultants to help them get control of their costs and spending all for them to just tell them to lay off x amount of people at the same cost savings they just paid out to the consultants.
