To bringing back Briles. McNamee was in the athletic department when Briles was winning championships.

Put it on paper.

This guy will toe the line. He's perfect for what Linda wants. Maybe the Idaho guy said no thanks which is a huge red flag if so. I get the feeling that as long as Livingstone is in charge 6-6 is just fine.

We are in a paperless world now. Not happening, but it made me laugh.

If true - Horrible Hire. You want to run Baylor like a Baptist church in the 90's, then you will see what happens when the "donors" look to other places.

BAYLOR UNIVERSITY OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Waco, Texas December 6, 2025

TREMENDOUS NEWS, FOLKS THE BEST NEWS!
BAYLOR UNIVERSITY JUST HIRED THE GREATEST ATHLETIC DIRECTOR IN THE BIG 12 HAS EVER SEEN DOUG MCNAMEE!

Believe me, nobody knows more about winning than I do, and when I say Doug McNamee is a WINNER, I mean a TOTAL WINNER. He's smart, he's tough, he's loyal, and he's going to Make Baylor Athletics Great Again maybe even greater than it's ever been before, and it's already been pretty great, everybody says so.

Doug has done UNBELIEVABLE things everywhere he's been. Championships? He's got them. Sold-out stadiums? Packed every time. Fundraising? The money is pouring in like you wouldn't believe record-shattering, folks. The fake news media won't tell you this, but other schools were begging for him, crying for him, but Doug said, "No, I'm going to Baylor because Baylor is where the real action is!"
This is a YUGE upgrade for Baylor Nation. Sic 'Em Bears like you've never Sic 'Em'd before! We're talking national championships, playoff appearances, Heisman winners it's all coming, and it's coming FAST.

I want to thank the search committee they did a fantastic job, really fantastic but let's be honest, once they saw Doug's name, it was over. Case closed. The best man won, as usual.

Doug McNamee starts immediately, and I promise you, the losing, the mediocrity, the sleepy days those days are OVER. We are going to win so much, Baylor fans are going to get tired of winning!

God bless Doug, God bless Baylor, and God bless the greatest college athletics program in the United States of America!

Art Briles is rightly lauded for the seismic shift he created at Baylor, putting the program on the national map in DI football by winning two Big 12 Conference championships (2013 outright and 2014 shared) and achieving unprecedented heights.

The truth is, the demands of leading a Power Four programthe 18-hour days, year-round recruiting travel, media scrutiny, and high-pressure fundraisingare a brutal, grinding physical and mental toll.

At 70 years old, such a commitment is simply improbable for any major program to ask, making a high-level coaching comeback highly unlikely.

Briles ain't being brought back. But I wonder how much Chip was involved in this (McNamee was President of the Magnolia company for a while). Hopefully Chip cares about ensuring we win as much as we do in basketball

Side note, not a fan of McNamee's name even being seriously mentioned.

Surely a dude that hasn't worked in college athletics for the past 7 years isn't the best we can find, right? With transfer portal and NIL, it is completely different than it was 7 years ago. How is he qualified working in branding/retail/apparel the last 7 years? Also, McNamee is a Baylor alum and current Wacoan (i.e. inside the bubble)...you think this guy will bring a culture change to athletics? We needed someone from outside the bubble Maybe someone who doesn't go to Columbus Ave. BC.

After the Sugar Bowl victory if someone had said "In four or so years, BU would become the Rustic Farm Decor & Shiplap University (Magnolia) people would be laughing in their face, yet here we are. Had no idea how much clout Chip and JoAnn swung with the Baptist deacons of BU. Inept just doesn't do it justice when thinking of Livingston & the Baptist deacons. I abhor my future interactions with friends of other universities. PAINFUL!

Honestly McNamee could be a good hire. The hiring of the head football coach is much more important than the hiring of the AD, IMO. Mac Rhoades had a lot of prior AD experience and how did that work out for us? If McNamee is a normal guy with good administrative skills and good instincts he'll probably do a good job. The head football coach is the hire we have to get right and I think that McNamee might well get it right. I hope he is his own man and doesn't weigh the University President's input too heavily when choosing the coach. Assuming that there will be a head football coach search within the next calendar year of course.

Good, reasonable level headed post. I can understand a few of the chicken littles on here because it might feel a little like the hiring of the Sheet Music Salesman, but - Not so fast! This guy has experience in the Athletic department in a few important capacities and running some private companies - hopefully he was successful in those business endeavors - I would think so - I am hoping he is more like a Yormark type and not a Sheet Music salesman type.

Again, this is who the donors wanted. People were wanting a guy that could bring back the donors that said adios after Briles was fired, and this is their best bet
