Why not us? They have lost more games all time than any other program (until last month) when Northwesten passed them by one game.
If they are at the top on the college football rankings, why not us? Indiana has objectively been the worst team in D1.
New AD, new direction, new vision. LFG!!!
We were doing it! 2012-2015 were great. (2021 too!) The admin has quit. They don't care about winning. It's why I'm dropping season tickets I've had since 2009.
The question that has no way to be answered, would Briles have been able to keep those players away from the programs that would have pounced on them with moneybag offers. We are now in a time where money talks and if enough money is offered, the athlete is completely stupid to not move on it. Baylor has never had and will likely never have that level of money to have kept the roster that we had in 2012-2015 if free agency and NIL had been there then.
Since your scenario implies Briles was still in play, then you are also implying he was never ostracized by the general public and college football, meaning that we're looking at a what if situation with the events of 2016 not happening.
If that were the case, Briles wouldn't have been at Baylor. Most likely scenario is that Campbell would have gobbled him up at first chance with an astronomical salary at Tech, and Art has vocally said he loved living in Lubbock so there's no reason to believe he wouldn't have been gone much sooner than some of the players who would have been lured away by more money. And, if Tech hadn't done it, UT would have gobbled him up the second time after canning Tom Herman.
But I do agree with your premise: we would've had a difficult time holding on to top players unless Simpson, Williams, Drayton and a few others piled out a lot of money. As much as the players loved Art, someone flashing $2 or $3 million in front of you while Baylor could only offer half or even less than that would make almost any kid and his parents follow the dough.
